Although you will be reading this after the big event, our Annual Dinner slated for Wednesday evening, March 18, has not as yet taken place as of the time of writing. We are looking forward to an excellent turnout of alumni and their wives and dates to hear Professor "Al" Foley and to dance following the formal program.
Our February last-Monday-of-the-month special luncheon had to be held on February 16, a week early, because of Washington's Birthday. The regrettably small group of alumni who were in attendance heard an excellent talk by Rev. Joseph Koci '43, rector of historic old St. Peter's Episcopal Church at Third and Pine Streets. Rev. Koci spoke on the Episcopal Church's approach to education.
We would like to think that there is sufficient alumni interest to merit continuing these interesting special luncheons, but we definitely need your support to justify the mailing expenses. The cost of sending notices to our dues-paying members alone is substantial.
About the time you receive this issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, you will also receive your Philadelphia Club's dues mailing for 1959. The rates are nominal compared to those of other Ivy League alumni clubs in this area in spite of the fact that we have just as good club facilities and offer an equivalent program of activities. You will not, however, receive mailings with regard to those activities, except for the Annual Dinner, unless you pay your dues. We would very much like to send all mailings to all alumni in the area; however, if we did so, we would shortly be bankrupt. Think it over when you receive your dues notice. We sincerely hope that you will decide to join our loyal group.
