The Class is proud to have Cal Billings and Chuck Bruder among the newly elected members of the Dartmouth Alumni Council. Although their two-year terms don't start until July 1, they have been invited to attend the June meeting of the Council in Hanover. Cal was elected by the alumni in the New England states and Chuck was elected by the Bequest & Estate Planning Chairmen of the various classes, at their annual meeting in Hanover on May 2.

Cal has held so 'many Dartmouth offices that we can list only a few of them here: Treasurer and Secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Hartford, Conn., assistant class agent for over 25 years and Class Agent for the past three years. In 1955 he received the award as the Best Club Secretary of the year. He is a partner in George M. Billings & Co., mortgage bankers.

Chuck Bruder has been doing an outstanding job as our Class Bequest chairman. He vice president of the Singer Sewing Machine Co. and his office is at 149 Broadway, New York.

The annual Class Officers weekend brought back to Hanover Cal and Genie Billings, Chuck and Nona Bruder and their two children, Craig Haines and your secretary. President George Pasfield was attending Fathers' DaY Smith with daughter Hope.

A high point of the weekend was a hastily arranged '28 party on Saturday afternoon at Jim Campion's new home on a mountain near Etna. From Jim's living room you get a wonderful view of Hanover and the mountains in New Hampshire, Vermont and New York. After cocktails, and a delicious dinner sent out from the Hanover Inn via young Jim Campion, we all drove back to College Hall to see the latest Dartmouth movies After the movies the party continued in Craig's and my room at the Hanover Inn

We were glad to welcome "Dee M." Ranney, who had come from Cleveland to attend parents' weekend at her son David's fraternity, Delta Upsilon; Betty Breyfogle, of Norwich, Vt.; Red and Chili Edgar of Winchester, Mass.; and Herb and Mimi Sensenig,of Norwich. It was decided that Jim's place would be an ideal place for a '28 reunion!

Everyone was asked for news" of course, and we learned that Mimi Sensenig has been teaching Professor Schlossmacher's German classes since his illness and death, and has had Jack and Fran Kenerson's son in one of her classes. She says he is an "A" student and an accomplished pianist — he gave a concert in Hanover with the Hanover Handel Society.

Craig Haines, before coming to Hanover May i, attended earlier that day the graduation of his son Craig from Naval Officers Candidate School at Newport, R. I. Young Craig has been assigned to duty at New London Linda Haines graduates in June from Northfield and is going to Simmons College in the fall.

Billy Sensenig, who graduates from Hanover High next month, has a job for the summer in San Francisco, and will enter Pacific University, Forest Grove, Ore., in the fall

We talked to Lane Dwinell, who has been home from the Governer's mansion four months and is discovering how to relax Betty is redecorating the house and Lane says he is learning the manufacturing business all over again from his associates.

Vic and Hesper Liddle's daughter was voted Queen of the Junior Prom at th Glens Falls High School.

The Class extends its sympathy to BillHunt, whose wife, Edna, died a few days ago. They were married in June, 1929

Joe and Margaret Tidd's daughter, Joanne is graduating from Wellesley in Tune. Gail' is a freshman at Wellesley and has the distinction of having gone to college after completing her junior year at the Hamden, Conn., high school. . . . Having smart parents must have had a lot to do with it - Joe is a Ph.D. and Margaret graduated from Wellesley in 1934 and got her Master's degree in Education. Joe is Plant Pathologist for Associated Seed Growers, Inc., New Haven.

Chet Goulding is field auditor for Smith-Corona Marchant, Inc., in Syracuse, N. Y. Manhattan lawyer Hank Graupner, Helen and their two children will spend the summer at Cape May, N. J., where they have a house.

John Turkevich, professor of Chemistry at Princeton, was a speaker at Griswold House at the Lawrenceville School recently - our son, Scott, had the pleasure of introducing him.

Bill Embler, was the principal speaker at the 32nd annual dinner meeting of the Schenectady Bureau of Municipal Research on March 24. Arvis Chalmers, of the Albany Knickerbocker News, recently did a feature article on Bill which he started out by saying that former Governor Harriman once described William James Embler as "a Republican I wish were on our side." The tiibute was to a man who seldom sees his name in print, but who plays a key role behind the scenes in the Republican party in New York State. He is head of a small research staff for the majority party in the Assembly and for the past four years has helped make party policy, assisted in writing the GOP legislative program and served as an "idea man" for the Republican high command. Before going to work for state government, he was one of its severest critics as editor of a taxpayer publication. The writer of the profile said Bill is a prodigious worker, but has had to cut down his schedule somewhat since a heart attack last vear.

Ever since Ken Turner started his magazine subscription agency we have been thrilled by the response of Dartmouth alumni all over the country to his effort to become self-supporting after polio left him almost completely paralyzed. In another column is a Report" from Ken which you will want to read. Over 100 Twenty-Eighters have sent in subscriptions and we hope this number will grow.

Bob Beadel '29 caught this nine-foot, 132-poundsailfish on his first deep-sea fishingtrip at Acapulco, Mexico. He is vice presidentof A. H. Pond (Keepsake diamonds).
