On April 30 we had our annual spring dinner at the Touchdown Club. It seemed to me that the party got off to a (excuse the expression) flying start at the cocktail hour. There was ample chatter intermingled with some good old fashioned harmonizing by those who cared to join in. During the meal "The Sons of Eleazar," our local singing group, attempted a couple of songs for which applause was heard. This is proof positive that Dartmouth men are kind and generous.
Fred Scribner '30, Undersecretary of the Treasury, was the speaker of the evening. We were amazed at his entertaining approach to describing Treasury activities. But most important to us were his observations about our need for constantly developing the loyalties of younger men to the College. Certainly the alumni clubs should play a part in this.
The evening marked Willis Fitch's '17 swan song as Club prexy after five successful years at the helm. However, he will still be working for the College as Alumni Councillor. Our new president will be Barry Sullivan '36 who has served the Club in a number of offices in the past twenty years.
We were most pleased to have two visitors from Hanover at our luncheons in April. Dean-elect Thaddeus Seymour, spoke to our group on April 16 and assistant Treasurer, Paul F. Young '43, was with us on April 23. These sessions help us keep in closer touch with people and events at the College.
