It has been a long time since we have had a chance to chat. I have a pile of mail here and a list of changes of address. There are many doctors, stockbrokers, geologists, servicemen, and teachers, etc., spread all over the nation. It is really an amazing and calming thing to suddenly be aware of this when the rest of the world seems to be crumbling daily about our ears. Enough of this, let's find out what is going on in the happy side of things.

Dick Duncan, after serving three years on the destroyer USS Gainard, has been awarded the Edward John Noble International Fellowship for graduate study at Columbia. Dick will enter Columbia this fall for study in the Pulitzer School of Journalism. Bruce Hack graduated from the American Institute for Foreign Trade in Phoenix. Bruce has completed the school's course for preparation in a career in American business or government abroad. Andy Cattano received the Eben J. Carey Award in Anatomy. It is a national honor awarded to the mem- ber of the Phi Chi Medical Fraternity who has achieved the highest proficiency in the basic study of anatomy.

Dave Thompson has recently been appointed marketing-manager for Stanley-Humason, Inc. in Forestville, Conn. The company is a subsidiary of The Stanley Works. Dave joined the market research department of The Stanley Works in 1957 and at that time worked on special assignments for the corporation. In 1959 he was transferred to the Stanley hardware division and was there until the marketing-manager post was created this year. Dave and his wife reside at 405 Lincoln St., New Britain, Conn.

Joe Lane has been promoted to an assistant cashier in the American National Bank and Trust Co. of Nashville, Tenn. Addie Bowman, who is now in Japan with the Navy, has been awarded a scholarship to attend the Dickinson Law School of Carlisle this fall. Bob Jeffery received his M.D. at McGill and is now in California where he will serve his internship at San Francisco General Hospital. Sid Starobin got his M.D. cum laude from Tufts and will do his interning at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. Doug Trottier has been ordained as the Minister of the Greenfield, N. H., Congregational Church. Doug received his bachelor of divinity degree at the Andover-Newton Theological School. Bill Gallagher received his M.D. degree from Harvard University, did clinical work at Bethesda Naval Hospital, and is now interning at Bellevue Hospital in New York.

Chris Wren has completed his Army service and has received the Army Commendation Medal. He is now beginning his graduate work in journalism at Columbia under an international fellowship. Chris will live at the International House and work with the State Dept. at the United Nations. BobForcier, who recently graduated from Harvard Med School, has begun his internship in Hanover, at Mary Hitchcock. Allen Maybee graduated from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, at Tufts, and recently began work at the Mobil Oil Co. in the Treasurer's Department and is concerned in some part with the international financing arrangements of the company's possessions.

Erich Kunzel, who after graduation conducted at the Sante Fe Opera Co. and is now conductor of the Brown University Glee Club, received his master's in Music from Brown. Kent Crane has been appointed to the foreign service and has received his first assignment at the American Embassy in Djakarta, Indonesia, where he will serve a two-year tour as a political assistant.

In the marriage column Miss Patricia Perkins of Englewood, Calif., became Mrs. Willis Brooks. The Brooks were married in Germany where Brookie is stationed in the Army. George Myro was a member of the wedding party. Wally Ackley and Miss Ethel Grumman were married in Holderness, N. H. Frank Andrews was the best man and Chris Wren was one of the ushers. Wally and his wife are living near Boston where he is working with Lybrand, Ross Brothers & Montgomery. Larry Guild and Miss Martha Wood were married in Laconia, N. H. Charlie Sellman was the best man and Bob Rex was one of the ushers.

It's hard to believe, but the only "Carriage Trade Announcement" I have received the entire summer is one from Clark andHappy Griffiths who have produced their second daughter, Lisa Miller Griffiths. It's wonderful; come on lads, start producing boys for the Griffiths girls.

In the New York Social Scene TomSchwarz, Adam Block, and I celebrated our joint birthday at the Dartmouth Club of N. Y. with about 15 classmates. If you are in the New York area let us know so you too can participate in these "long lunch hours."

I am sorry to have to report of the death of one of our classmates, Tom Young. Details may be found in the obituary section of this or a subsequent issue.

If you are living in the Yale Bowl Area and are planning to come to the Yale Game, how do you feel about having a class get-together? Please drop Don Adley (91 North Lake Drive, Hamden, Conn.) or me a note about any interest or ideas you may have. We will follow this up with a circular letter.
