The Wildcats of UNH invaded Hanover for what was expected to be an easy victory for the Big Green. Instead it proved to be a long afternoon for the Bob Blackman eleven. When it was all over the forecasters were probably even surer of their predictions.
The lone Dartmouth touchdown came late in the second quarter on a screen pass from Kinderdine to Rozycki. The hard-driving Rozycki cov- ered 19 yards on his way to the goal line.
The Green then tried to go for a two-point conversion, but a penalty forced it back to the eight-yard line. Taking no chances, Gerfen, who besides being a guard is also a placement kicker, went into action. He proceeded to kick the ball over the cross bar and the Indians led, 7-0.
The Wildcats fought their way back early in the second half on a sustained drive and scored on a 25-yard down and out pass play. Gambling for the two-point conversion and victory, UNH sent a man wide, aiming for the corner. Evans came up from his halfback spot and made the stop just short of the goal.
It was the closest contest in the ten-game series. Twice the Green was stopped inside the New Hampshire ten-yard line and when the game ended the Wildcats had the ball on the Dartmouth 26.
