With John H. "Dan" Daniell '24 as chairman and the undersigned as ad hoc secretary, some progress has been made in efforts to organize Dartmouth alumni in Mexico. As the result of a circular and questionnaire sent to all alumni in Mexico City and environs, periodic luncheon meetings will commence soon. Appreciation for the success of this movement should be expressed to U. S. Ambassador Robert C. Hill '42, who first got the Dartmouth group together at a splendid luncheon at the Embassy residence some two months ago. The idea of consolidating the alumni in some kind of flexible organization stems from that first meeting.

And now some news of Dartmouth men in Mexico.... Our chairman "Dan" Daniell reports that during his visit to London in late May he saw the Don Coyles '24 at the Park Lane H0te1.... Cesar Estrada '52, who lives in Torreón, State-.of Coahuila, made a trip to Pennsylvania to see his brother Juan Antonio play at the Amateur Golf World Cup (Eisenhower trophy) at the end of September.... Jerry Garduno '42 managed to escape his busy executive life as head of Allied Chemical in Mexico for a few days of sun and fishing at Acapulco.... And speaking of busy people, Bob Hill is of course the busiest ambassador here: one of his latest new activities was to ride in a "charreada," the Mexican equivalent of a Western r0de0.... Now some interesting statistics: of the thirteen questionnaires so far returned, ten show that our alumni are either presidents, general managers or general representatives of important business and industrial concerns here. Not a bad batting average, eh? To close with some personal items, your ad hoc secretary reports that he has two new books of poetry being printed for publication late this year and is now preparing a series of lectures in Spanish on American literature, beginning with "Actualidad y permanencia de Enrique David Thoreau" (Herb West please note).... Hasta la próxima. ...
