As summer of '61 closes, this Association looks with keenest satisfaction on two major events: our annual picnic on August 23; and our weekly lunches which enjoy a steadily growing attendance.

That picnic was a humdinger — as expected. In spite of threatening weather (rain was predicted) 125 enthusiasts turned up, and had the thoroughly swell time they had in mind. Some fifteen members of entering '65 were present with their fathers - guests of the Association; and a gratifying number of long-missing old-timers proved to themselves and everybody else that they had not lost their "old touch." Ralph Johnson'40 again demonstrated his gifts as a delightful host. Henry Parker '26 proved his talents as "chief executive" - ably assisted by Dick Loewenthal '53, secretary; JackSenne '53, entertainment manager; and JimStevens '50, treasurer. Good sports, marvelous food and brilliant fire-works were normal success features.

From Hanover came Herb West '22, welcome repeater from last year, and Lou Stillwell, equally welcome addition. These two stars were a huge hit at a most delightful dinner given by Ralph Johnson '41 at Barrington Hills Country Club the evening before the picnic.

As for the weekly lunch (every Monday at the Realtors Club, 105 West Madison) attendance has tripled the 1960 average; and a continued steady increase is expected.
