A freshman luncheon and a September cocktail party already have been held by the Dartmouth Club of Hartford as the fall season gets underway. But the club is still talking about its impressive 50th anniversary party the end of June at the Hartford Club.

Close to 100 Dartmouth alumni from the Hartford area attended the birthday luncheon noting fifty years of Dartmouth in Hartford. The Dartmouth Lunch Club was founded in June 1911 at the University Club of Hartford. From that small group, the Dartmouth Club of Hartford emerged a few years later.

The main speakers at the luncheon were Charles J. Zimmerman '23, a Trustee of the College, and Bob Blackman, football coach. They were introduced by Club President Webster T. Gault '50. In his remarks, Zimmerman sketched the development of Dartmouth alumni clubs and their importance to the College. Blackman summarized the Dartmouth football outlook and was cautiously optimistic about the team's prospects for this fall.

A special feature of the anniversary luncheon was the attendance of twelve past presidents of the club and the club's original secretary - Curtiss L. Sheldon '09. All were guests of the club for the luncheon. The past presidents who attended were Eliot S. Cogswell '06; Louis I. Corliss '14; Philip W. Smith '14; John W. Saladine '17; Charles B. Rice '23; Malvern J. Mather '29; John D. Murphy '34; Stanley B. Weld '12; Richmond G. Fisher '41; Hap C. Bush '44; J. Saxton Ziemen '35; and Culver A. Modisette '50.

All the club's officers were reelected for the coming year. They are: Webster T.Gault '50, president; E. G. (Bud) Walls '38 and John F. Day Jr. '47, vice presidents; Brinton T. Schorer '36, secretary; Allen V. Collins '53, treasurer; and Charles L. Russell '51, asst. treasurer.
