Like all alumni clubs, we try to introduce something new, different, and a bit better into our programming each season. This year, the new element was our Liberal Arts Seminar, "Dartmouth in Hartford," and we're pleased that it was so well received by both club members and our guests.

Held December 2, 1961 at the auditorium of the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company, the Seminar was conceived as an informal probing of the important new developments in the liberal arts - and how the great issues of our times are viewed by leading figures in the humanities, the social sciences, and the physical sciences. Speakers for the occasion were: Charles J. Zimmerman '23, a trustee of both Dartmouth and Hillyer Colleges; John L. Stewart, Professor of English at Dartmouth; Gene M. Lyons, Associate Professor of Public Affairs and director of Dartmouth's precedent-setting Great Issues Course; and Roy P. Forster, Professor of Zoology at Dartmouth. Moderator was Webster T. Gault '50, president of the Dartmouth Club of Hartford. More than 150 members and guests attended the Seminar. The audience included representatives from many of the primary and secondary schools and the colleges in the area.

Our regular monthly luncheon meetings have also been well attended this season. Recent speakers have included Dean Thaddeus Seymour and Jack Zaiman, well-known political reporter from The Hartford Courant. Future activities include a club outing to New Haven on Feb. 2 for the Yale-Dartmouth hockey game.

Since our assistant treasurer has been transferred from this area by his company, we've appointed a new man - Ray Woolson '55 - to take his place. Two new mem- bers have been appointed to our club's executive committee: Fran Fenn '37, president of the General Association of Alumni, andEd Perrin '38, member of the National Enrollment Committee.
