Having sampled a little better than six weeks of married life, I can readily recommend the institution to all 59's who have not yet taken the step. Although I was quick to learn that two cannot live cheaper than one, the fringe benefits make up sufficiently for whatever losses there may be. This gospel must be far reaching for even from the far corners of the world come reports of wedding plans.

It seems as though you can do almost anything by mail these days. Scott Booma became engaged to Moonyeen Joyner of Windsor, Va. Scotty is presently stationed with the Marines in the Far East. Moonyeen is finishing her last year at Mary Washington College. A fall wedding is planned.

Another February engagement was announced with Don Abel proposing to Harriet Ruth Gurney. Don is currently working towards his doctor's degree at Cornell University in New York City.

Tim Crane and Louise Anne Hahlbohm became engaged February 23. The prospective bride is a senior at Colby College while Tim is working with the Hanover Bank.

A senior at Smith was the choice of JohnMacManus whose engagement to Margaret Anne Wilson was recently announced.

A June wedding is planned for Marjorie Dorothy Cohen and Lloyd Henry Relin. Lloyd is in his second year at Yale Law School where he is a member of the Corbey Court Association.

The only wedding that was reported was that of Stu Davis to Leslie Gardner. Stu has earned his master's degree from the Columbia Business School and he and Leslie plan to set up their household in New York City.

Dick Schmidt is presently on duty with the 68th Armored in Exercise Winter Shield II at the Grafenwohr-Hohenfels training area in Germany. Dick entered the Army in April 1960 and was stationed at Fort Knox before going overseas. He is ranked a Second Lieutenant and is a platoon leader in his company.

Second Lieutenant Dave Burton recently began basic training at Reese Air Force Base, Tex., and will graduate in August. Dave received his preliminary pilot training at Bainbridge Air Base, Ga. In his spare time Dave heads the household of his wife Sandra and his three-year-old son Kenneth.

Bob Nelson has recently been promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant USAF. He is presently assigned to the 99th Air Refueling Squadron, Westover Air Force Base, Mass.

Dave Duclos has been on loan from the Marines to 20th Century Fox to partake in the filming of Let's Go Marines. I imagine Duke took the role of one of those real "gung-ho" fellows. In spite of all the glory in the corps, Duke misses his wife in Duluth whom he has not seen for thirteen months.

Paul Stein writes that he and his wife are returning to his home town of St. Louis where he has been transferred by Merrill Lynch to assume the duties of an account executive. During a recent stay in New York he saw Pete Metz and Jack Nason who were vacationing from the Univ. of Va. Law School.

News of Pete Bulkley has him as a deep sea diver for the Navy roaming all over the Pacific on various missions.

Dick Leisching is selling insurance in New York and driving the American women crazy (as usual).

George Kelley writes from Harvard Law School, where he has been elected President of the Harvard Law School Dormitory Council. He also found time to produce the first H.L.S. Variety Show, the Equity Review, which was a huge success. After finishing law school, George intends to spend two years at the Harvard Business School.

The Hammersly Manufacturing Co. listed the promotion of George Hammersly to assistant treasurer and a director. George joined the firm in 1959.

That is all for now. Let's help the class agents to put the Class of '59 way up high on the alumni giving fund ladder.
