From Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, we learn that Bob Johnson has been on the high seas since graduation days and that he is quite willing to give up that fresh smell of salt water for a few feet of earth beneath his feet. Actually, I think Bob is really looking for a chance to get into the mating game. It appears, however, that the Navy has different plans until this fall when they will be turning him loose.
Will Hartfeldt has just finished three interesting years touring the Far East, Latin America, and our West Coast (with special emphasis on the San Diego area). This journey originally commenced aboard the USS "Catamount" and now is linked to an air staff called Tactical Air Control Squadron Thirteen. Will is currently awaiting an inevitable active duty extension which he is hoping will not preclude law school this autumn at the University of Chicago.
Another interesting letter was received from Marv Sezak. After two years of graduate work in Germanic Studies at Stanford Marv took a job teaching German and Russian at Cupertino High School in Cupertino, Calif., which is just south of Palo Alto where he is now living. Marv reports that he finds this way of life very enjoyable and rewarding and that, up to this date, he has had the rare distinction (in the Class of '59) of remaining single and not complaining about it.
Bruce McInnes has recently been named director of the Apollo Glee Club and assistant director of the Yale Glee Club at Yale University. After graduation he studied music in Paris under a Fulbright Scholarship and, more recently, served as the director of music at the Moses Brown School in Providence. Currently he is enrolled in the Yale School of Music and is a candidate for the master's degree in music with a major in organ studies. In his new position at Yale, Bruce will be in charge of directing the madrigal group, a section of the varsity glee club.
A June wedding is planned for HowieMunro and Estelle Marie Isherwood. Howie will graduate from the Harvard Medical School in June. Another June date has been set for Gwynneth Williamson and FrankSmith. Frank will be graduated in June from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Pete Stearns has removed his name from the eligibles' list with the announcement of his engagement to Louise Bronner of Schenectady, N. Y. Pete is a candidate for an M.B.A. degree from Wharton this year.
Donn Chickering will be tying the knot this month to Marina Maguire. Donn has made quite a mark on the business world as he already has attained the position of President of New Jersey Air Filter Company.
Pat Burns, presently at Harvard Law School, has been awarded an African-Asian Public Service Fellowship. His country assignment has not yet been announced. The Fellowship is an inter-university effort designed primarily to help develop a corps of trained and experienced young people who will be available to help governmental and other agencies conduct their overseas activities with increased intelligence.
The Army has released Brian - no more sideburns - Hepburn. Brian has been assigned to the New York City Division of Procter and Gamble, Inc.
