As I sit here writing this report for our last issue before the summer vacation, I am wondering if summer is really going to arrive before you hear from me again next fall. As usual it is cold and raining which seems to be our normal condition. I don't doubt that we will challenge East Pakistan as the place with the greatest annual rainfall, but let's hope that sometime during the summer I have the opportunity to try my golf clubs. However, there is some late spring news about our classmates.

The Haverhill, Mass., paper carried a nice article about Dr. John Gustafson, who spoke before the Congregational Church there, where his brother is Pastor. John received his Ph.D. from Cornell and is now a professor of natural sciences at the New York State College of Education at Cortland, N. Y. He is a prominent lay preacher among Baptist churches in his area. He and Nancy have four children - Walter, nine, Laura almost eight, Dan now four and a half, and Martha two.

Earlier this spring the Dartmouth Club of Bergen County, N. J., gave their annual spring dance at the Ridgewood Country Club for the benefit of the Scholarship Fund and the Joe Hickmans as usual contributed an active part toward making the dance a success. I have a lovely picture of Jean in the middle of the dance floor taking advantage of the good music

I heard Paul Richrath moved from one house to another in Los Angeles. Last I heard Paul was a bachelor in the land of wealth for bachelors. Should your status have changed, Paul. I hope you will let me know. Incidentally, Paul is title officer at the Title Insurance and Trust Co. in Los Angeles.

As long as we are visiting in the sun and not back East where it is still raining, I might bring you up to date on Jim Wellington. Tim is Asst. Professor of English at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla. He and Mary live with daughters Georgia and Anne on Stewart Ave. in Miami.

I had a long talk with Chuck Witherspoon the other day as I had just heard he had moved here from North Carolina. Chuck is now Executive Assistant Manager of the New York Athletic Club and reports that the job is an interesting, all-year-round challenge with their 9200 members, summer operation at Travers Island and the tremendous facilities on 59th St. in New York City. Chuck and Nicky are living in Jackson Heights, Long Island with their three daughters, Sandy, eight, Margo, six, and Bonnie, four.

It has been a long time since I've reported on my new neighbor across the river in Old Tappan, N. J., Rev. Lou Springsteen. Lou is the Minister at the Trinity Reformed Church in Old Tappan. He and Ellen have a son Howard, now five, and their daughter Carol is just three. I hope to see Lou soon as it has been a long time.

One of our active classmates in the Chicago area is Don Ryan, who lives in beautiful Wilmette on the North Shore. Don is a partner in the Laurence J. Ryan and Co., grain commission business. Helen keeps busy with Larry, four, and Mary, three.

I would like to wish all of you a pleasant summer and perhaps you might be able, during the summer slack, to drop me a line and let me have the latest news on you or your family.

In case you have somehow not been re- minded (is this possible, Russ?) it is still not too late to mail your contribution to the Alumni Fund as the 1961 drive is closing June 30.

See you in the fall at which time I promise to be loaded with news from you and about you.

I want to thank Russ Carlson for the superb job he did again this year as chairman for our class in the drive. He has a tough job to which he always devotes a tremendous amount of time and energy.
