October 6 is the date of the next Class of ’56 meeting and reunion per Bob Dumont and Russ Brace. The meeting is in Room 158 Baker Library at 9:30 Saturday morning. The Dartmouth-Penn kick-off is at 2. (Ticket applications should be mailed immediately; ask for the ’56 block.) After the game, there will be a ’56 gathering at the D.O.C. House on Occom Pond. A major item for the meeting is the scholarship initiated by members of our class and its executive committee, which is starting Ahmed Siddik Osman of the Sudan through Dartmouth this fall. Doug Keare recently received a letter from Ahmed, which reads in part as follows:

With the greatest of pleasure I have received the letter that Mr. Robert K. Hage, director of financial aid, wrote to me informing me of the scholarship I have been awarded which was set up by the Dartmouth Alumni who graduated in 1956. You may imagine the effect that the offer- ing of this scholarship has on me, since the finding of enough financial support was the only obstacle on my way. May I request you to ex- press my deep gratitudes and thanks to all those who contributed and brought this outstanding scholarship into existence. I am determined to do my best to benefit from this scholarship and so my goals in life for the benefits of all human beings, I believe that this would give me a very good opportunity to know the class of 1956 whom I am very anxious to meet. May I also have the pleasure to tell you that I have received my travel grant which is a round-trip economy class ticket by plane from Khartoum to Hanover and back. May I wish you the best of all.
