The big move to the 10th reunion is on. Rem Kinne, in charge of the Massachusetts contingent of 109 classmates for the AlReich-Bob Brace nationwide promotional team, reports that so far the only Massachusetts '52 not coming to reunion is HarryGoldsmith. He'll be in Korea. A poor excuse!

Connie Carstens' fine newsletter has already reported to you on the growing list of classmates who have indicated they are coming to Hanover for the reunion days. The estimate now is for more than 250 classmates to congregate on the Hanover plain under the class banner.

We had the biggest fifth reunion on record five years ago, and it looks as if our 10th will establish a new record also. But the importance of such a crowd of classmates to you is not in the record books but in the numbers of your friends who will be in Hanover to share this get-together with you.

We were very pleased to learn that Bill Kay and Walker Benning have been awarded Sloan Fellowships at M.I.T.'s School of Industrial Management. Bill was nominated for the fellowship by his firm, Campbell Soup Co., and will begin his one-year course to meet the requirements for a Master of Science degree in industrial management right after coming to Hanover for reunion. The Sloan Program is designed for a small number of young men (that's still us) nominated by their employers because of the promise they show for growth into major executive responsibilities. Bill joined Campbell in 1956 and has progressed rapidly through heat processed soups, beans and V-8 as assistant advertising manager for the first, advertising manager for the latter to a similar spot with Campbell-Swanson Frozen Foods. He was named to his present position, product marketing manager, Franco-American Products, in 1961.

Walker was nominated for the Sloan Fellowship by his employer, the Cleereman Machine Tool Corporation of Green Bay, Wis. Walker has been assistant treasurer since 1955 and is also on the board of directors. In addition he serves on the board for the Saranac Machine Company (Michigan). Between June 1952 and joining Cleereman, Walker served two years with Uncle Sam's Army, worked in real estate and then was vice president, treasurer and director of creation (were they filming Genesis?) for Baker Productions of St. Joseph, Mich., a motion picture production business. Walker and his wife Barbara were wed in 1956. They have a daughter, Brooke Ann. No word yet whether Walker and Barbara will join the Kays in a combination of reunion and the opening of school, but we certainly hope so.

Bill and Bev Hovey had their third child, and first boy, on February 23. The young man is named William B. His two sisters are Susan, five, and Cynthia, three. Len andJudy Larrabee report the arrival of number four, David Tracy, on January 25. This is the second boy for the Larrabees. Len reports also that they are hoping to be with the class for the 10th.

Mendy Balkin has just opened a new showroom for interior design and wholesale gift trade for his exclusive imports of handwoven rugs, tapestries, and other unusual and artistic items in the decorative accessory line. His store, Decor International, is located in Boston. He and Lorraine have one son, Peter, and are expecting another child very soon.

Dr. Ed Futterman expects to leave his duties as base psychiatrist at Camp Lejeune, N. C., in August, and he will head then for San Francisco to complete residency in child psychiatry. Ed and Sarah Lee Molty were married August 6, 1961 in Forest Hills, N. Y. Art Figur, Steve Lazarus and RonScott attended the wedding.

CBS newsman Dave Dugan was aboard the carrier USS Forrestal about 200 miles off Bermuda for the Glenn space orbiting flight.

Fred Merrill has been named a vice president of the First National Bank of Neenah, Wis. For the past eight years Fred has been with the Northern Trust Company of Chicago. He has a Master's degree in administration and finance from the University of Chicago's graduate school of business.

Jim Fraser is teaching classes in investment at the Hudson Falls (N. Y.) Adult Education Department. Jim is a regular investment counselor and publisher of the "Fraser-Meill Letter of Contrary Opinion."

Julien Robinson was named to the five-member Jersey City (N. J.) Housing Authority and became the first Negro, and one of the youngest men, to hold a seat with the agency. Julie holds a Master's degree from N.Y.U.

Dr. Bill Fletcher is ail instructor in surgery at the University of Oregon Medical School in Portland. The medical school will receive some $30,000 to support his research over the next five years.

Howie Carter, representing Elizabeth Arden in Florida, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and all those other enchanting islands, saw Normand Kitty Jeavons on their way home to Cleveland from the Virgin Islands. Howie and his wife, Mary Louise, live in Boynton Beach, Fla., and have two children.

My apologies to the Teevens and my thanks to Mary Teevens for getting the record straight. I reported that Gene and Mary had five children. They have six! I thought Gene had said five. Oh well, if I had that many I'd lose count too. They do have five sons. They started off with a young lady but the next five were boys, boys, boys. The latest was born December 29. Now that's cutting it very close, but with that many income tax deductions already on hand, does it really make a difference?

Next, Mary reports, Gene is no longer a salesman. He's manager of the Springfield, Mass., warehouse for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co., and finally they haven't moved to Springfield (still in Pittsfield) but hope to soon. I stand corrected ... and how!

Bob "Buzz" Barton was featured in a special write-up on his accomplishments as assistant district attorney of Cambridge, Mass. It's a very fine article, and certainly a great credit to our classmate. But it's much too long to run here. Therefore. I'm sending it to "space unlimited" Conrad Carstens so we can all read the article through his newsletter.

Well be looking forward to seeing you in Hanover, June 15 and 16.

Bill Kay
