The Dartmouth Rugby players are becoming known as international travelers. Sponsored by the government's "People to People Program," the rugby club traveled to Ireland during spring vacation for a five-game series with five of the best Irish teams. This marked the second trip abroad for the club, the first occurring in 1958-59, when a team traveled to England.

From a won-and-loss standpoint the trip was far from successful, but on the basis of friendships made and experience gained, it was very beneficial. While in Ireland the club lost four matches and tied one. The one tie came in the final match against Garryowen of Limerick and, though they outplayed their hosts, the Indians had to settle for a 3-3 score.

The touring squad included a number of football players, Bill Blumenschein at a post position, Don McKinnon on the second row, and Gary Spiess at center. Other students making the trip included Von Beebe at scrum half, Woody Bradford, who alternated at stand-off and wing, Don Burris at wing or center, and Bill Carlson at center. Dick Dillon held the post position, while wings included Bill Glenn and Jack Huber. At lock were Dan Hummel and John Hust. Others on the second row were Mike Jackson and Stu Richards; Brock Saxe was the fullback; Lou Setti was at fullback or center; Tom Rucker was the team's hooker, and Jim Wallquist was the stand-off.

This spring as the Indian rugby team again seeks to garner a share of the eastern laurels, these experienced players should help to produce a successful season.
