The Indians came within fourteen yards of seeing Brown either tie or win, but the Bruin passing attack faltered in the waning minutes and Dartmouth went on to win 14-7.

The Green scored the first time it had the ball in nine plays. The 53-yard march was capped by Kelly's one-yard buck over center for the T.D. Passes to Scott Creelman and Spangenberg, and runs by McLean, highlighted the drive.

Dartmouth did not threaten again until the third period, when one drive ended on the Brown 12 as a 19-yard field goal went wide of the mark, and later the same period when the Indians missed a first down by inches on the Brown 17.

Dartmouth controlled the pigskin, however, throughout the third period (Brown had the ball for only eight plays) and were driving again as the quarter ended. On the first play of the fourth period, Kelly threw long and deep to Creelman who raced 46 yards before being hauled down from behind on the Brown two-yard line. On the next play Kelly went over on the Dartmouth wedge play and Gary Wilson's kick made the score 14-0.

It was a determined Brown team that took the ensuing kickoff. Sophomore quarterback Bob Hall began to fill the air with passes, one in particular to his end Bob Seiple was good for 24 yards and moved the ball to the Indians' 36. The Bruins maintained the pressure both on the ground and in the air until Hall finally hit his other end John Perry for 13 yards and a touchdown. It was the first Brown score against a Dartmouth football team since 1956.

Brown, as expected, tried an on-side kick, and unfortunately for Dartmouth the ball was recovered by the Bruins on the Dartmouth 49. Sensing the opportunity to upset the Indians, the Bruins started to drive again for the goal line. A Hall to Perry pass set Brown up with a first and ten on the Dartmouth 15. An end sweep by Hall netted only one yard and two passes fell incomplete. This brought up fourth down and nine and Hall again picked out Perry as his target. But this time fullback Tom Parkinson was there to bat down the ball and end the Bruin threat.

Dartmouth was able to use up most of remaining time, but with 1:30 showing on the clock was forced to punt. Brown's final drive, though, was cut short by a fumble which was recovered by guard Bill Curran.

Like every team on the Dartmouth schedule, the Bruins had been out to upset the Indians. It was also one of the best Brown teams seen in several years.
