New Yorkers have the Annual Clam Diggin' and Bunko Droppin' Contest on the thirteenth at the D Club, Hotel Commodore. Out our way Prez JSD will be honored at a banquet the 27th, and Herb Ray will rally the 50's 'round the flag (Chicago talk for martinis). As previously mentioned, DickEchikson is the spearhead of the Manhattan melee. Be there?

EARNING BY LEARNING

Many moons ago we got an address change on Phil Chamberlain who is now living at 1038 Balboa, Pacific Grove, Calif. He is assistant head of adult education at Monterey Peninsula College. . . . Nick Costes has returned to the Tarheel state where he is an instructor at N. C. State College, Raleigh, in the department of civil engineering. Pillows his head at 1851 West Smallwood Drive in the same town. . . . John Henry is an assistant prof of English and assistant director of the American Language Institute at N.Y.U. . . . Gary Johnson sprechens the Deutsch to Hoosiers at the U of I at Bloomington. Indiana that is. Mail can go to 115 North Clark Street.

Dr. Mark Tourtelotte is now an assistant prof at the University of Connecticut. For the past two years a post-doctoral and research associate at Yale, Mark is specializing in the study of pleuropneumonia-like organisms and their immunochemistry in birds. He is the author or co-author of sixteen technical articles in veterinary research.

Jack Wetenhall is all aces as a dairy exec. Biz address is 111 Fifth Avenue in New York and the home fires burn at 111 Stonehedge Drive, North, Greenwich, Conn. What's your license plate, John? . . . EmilHudak catches customers at the counters of Sibleys in Rochester, N. Y. Says he, wife Carol and three sons (Mark— 6½, Doug - 4, Scott — 2O months) doing fine. . . . JohnDunlap has moved across Pennsylvania and now manages alloy sales for E. J. Lavino & Co. in Pittsburgh. Cocktail parties after the Steelers' games are held at 405 Orchard St., Sewickley. . . . Dick Sitzer is treasurer and sales manager for Hurlbut Paper Co., South Lee, Mass. . . . Paul Drummey is a sales rep for Belknap & McClain Inc. around Boston. Don't know the products. Mayhap we should send him to "What's My Line?"

Members of the American Marketing Association have already enjoyed the article by Pete Bucklin in the January issue of the Journal of Marketing "Retail Strategy and the Classification of Consumer Goods." As noted in the magazine, the author shows how the traditional concepts of shopping, convenience, and specialty goods may be up-dated and integrated with the idea of patronage motives, and how they provide the retailer with a new means of evaluating his strategy.

Bob Mauk might be accused of being in his second childhood playing with toys, but insiders know it's just part of his business. Kenner Products Co. of Cincinnati. . . . Rev.Jim Birney, Canon, is assistant to the Bishop and Director of the Program and Education, Episcopal Diocese of Delaware in Wilmington. He, Biz, and the bambinos live across the line in Kennett Square, Pa.

King Jarvls is an associate lawyer with Leonard F. Markel in Norristown, Pa. . . . Dick L. Johnson is manager and part owner of the Weidman Insurance Agency in Colorado Springs. . . . Lee Royer's accounting chores with Mobil have relocated hirr. in Dallas. . . . Don Meenen has moved, too. Now he's a systems associate with Merck & Co. in West Point, Pa. Home town is Phillie suburb, Ambler.

Phil H. Chase is a consultant with Management Psychologists & Co., 1 East 57, N.Y.C. Phil says, "Sick companies are our forte." Reading some of the annual reports you'd get the idea that just about everyone is a prospect!

Woody Smith is an account exec with BBDO in Buffalo. . . . Bill Streng is a partner in Streng Bros. Homes, Sacramento, Calif. . . . Congrats to Jim Hotchkiss who was admitted to partnership in the investment counseling firm of Stein Roe & Farnham in Chicago the first of the year. He joined the company in 1956 after serving as an economic analyst for United Air Lines. Jim is also assistant secretary of the Stein Roe & Farnham Stock fund.

Since so many of us have enjoyed DonHyatt's "Project Twenty" series there is little surprise that Don is frequently written up in the TV columns of the papers. New Yorkers may recall that there are such things as newspapers. The latest we've seen was an extensive interview in the Hartford, Conn., Times in December. Too long for inclusion here, we may be able to share it fully via Bob Kelly's 50-50.

Part Keese has been editor-writer on the Evening Gazette in Worcester, Mass., since 1955. Prior to that he'd taught at Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge and at Littleton High. He and Jane have a quartet of youngsters, Peter born in 1951, Eugenie a year younger, John who is nine, and William four-and-a-half. Part garnered a Master's at Denver. His duties include writing a sports column and editing copy for the paper and reviewing books. Extracurricular activities are bowling, Softball, and table tennis. Sees a good bit of fellow Injun DickWetherbee, too.
