As this is written, we can report the good news that the Green sextet won its first league contest, 9-4 over Princeton, and then took a non-league encounter with Middlebury, 12-1. Overall the Indians now sport a record of seven wins and eight losses, and are deep in the second division of the Ivy League.

Since our last report the Green has lost four and won four. After losing four straight as reported last month, the Indians rebounded to defeat Middlebury 5-2 at Middlebury and then New Hampshire 3-2. Following the UNH contest, the Green skaters went into another tailspin, losing to Army, Boston College (one of the top teams in the East this winter), Brown and Harvard for the second time, before winning the two games mentioned above.

In the last few games, the Indians have been sparked by the second line of Bob Tucker-John Carpenter-John Fiske which has scored impressively. Carpenter's three-goal hat trick led the Indians to their victory over Princeton at Davis Rink. With the score tied at 4-4 in the third period, Carpenter scored twice in less than two minutes to break the deadlock. Defenseman Chuck Zeh added a clincher twenty seconds later.

The second line continued to dominate the scoring against Middlebury. This time it was Fiske who notched the hat trick, while Carpenter turned on the red light twice and Tucker once for a total of six goals. The second line's scoring punch has increased the potential of the Indian attack for the games that remain.

The first line of Dave Leighton„ Chip Hayes, and Jack Phelan still leads in the total scoring department (goals and assists combined). Leighton leads the entire team with fifteen goals, while Hayes and Carpenter each have thirteen. Phelan though he has only eight goals is credited with fourteen assists.

Terry Guitiey, after recovering from an injury received earlier this season, has returned to the nets and turned in several good performances. His number one replacement, Eric Knox, has seen action in ten games and is an able reserve.

The hockey team now has five games left to play and if it continues to progress it might well win at least three out of five and finish with a break-even record.
