Russ Brace has called the next meeting of the Class Executive Committee for 9:30 A.M., Saturday, February 24, in Suite 102 at the Hotel Commodore, New York. The last meeting was open to all members of the class, and it was decided to continue this policy and encourage everyone to attend.

The same day in St. Thomas, Ontario, MerrittClark and Paula Dianne Penhale were married. Paula graduated from the Victoria Hospital and University of Western Ontario schools of nursing. Merritt received his Master's degree from Thayer School, is an engineer for Southern New England Telephone Company in New Haven, and has become an authority on micro-wave and satellite communications through his connection with the Bell Telephone round-the-world communications project.

Ken Thomas married a wonderful girl, Barbara Ann Seiler, a graduate of the University of Illinois and the Master's degree program of lowa State. They were married in Champaign, Ill., in October. Dick completed his tour in the Navy in June, 1960, as an instructor of seamanship and navigation at Newport that summer raced aboard the sailboat "Carina" from Newport to Bermuda and then to Sweden. After seeing the Olympics and touring Europe, he sailed aboard the Cotton Blossom" as navigator from Italy to the Caribbean. Dick is now with a ship brokerage firm in New York.

The Army has glowing reports of platoon leader, Lieutenant Pete Rath, currently in Germany. Pete taught school in Bogota before entering the Army in August, 1957. Pete's wife Myriam and two children are living in Millington, N. J. Dick Leaman finished Tuck School after Dartmouth and started with Scott Paper Company in 1960 as personnel assistant in the Chester, Pa., plant. Skip is production supervisor for W. B. Merideth, General Contractors in Norfolk. Dave Stackpole spent his Christmas vacation from Cornell Law School skiing at Stowe. He reports that Chuck Norton is also at Cornell Law School.

My recent review of classmate geologists left out three who are doing advanced study. John Cotton is at Yale; Paul Handverger at the University of Arizona; and Skip Lenker is doing graduate work in mining science at Penn. State. From the oil men, I omitted Don Smith, financial analyst for Socony Mobil in New York.

Merritt Clark's progress in the telephone communications field prompted me to continue my checking our records on others in his field. Two good snow storms covered the hills and fields around Hanover just before Christmas and clung to the trees during the cold clear days that followed. The Dartmouth Ski-Way opened with the best skiing I have ever seen there. Howard Chivers '39 developed a practice slope last year and this year widened "Sachem," which over New Year's was like "Ruthy's Run at Aspen in new powder snow. Steve Swenson, on vacation from teaching at Darrow School, made regular visits from his home in Concord along with a couple of attractive girls. Nate Metzger flew up from Richmond, Va., forsaking the tobacco business for a pair of skis. Bob and Jenny French were home from Brown and made regular visits to Hanover from Woodstock. Tiny Strong was on the slopes while home from Harvard. A pleasant surprise was Bob Branston of San Francisco. Bob left the canning business in California when he was recalled by the Army and was on leave for some skiing. The Ravine Lodge at Mt. Moosilauke was opened for the holidays, and many of us enjoyed cross-country skiing, climbing, and the four-mile run down from the East Peak of the mountain. Winter Carnival is February 9 and 10.
