The Dartmouth Alumni Fund campaign is on for 1964 which is its 50th anniversary. Bob Kenyon, our head class agent, has Mrs. Joseph McCann as his assistant class agent. Mildred will contact the widows who always respond so gracefully in memory of their husbands. Let's give our best support to our class agents before June 30 and participate. I know you will.
Art Taylor recalls vividly the Dartmouth Hall fire, as I do, during our freshman year when we raced across the snow and ice on campus from College Hall to see if we could be of help. Art says that he has two handmade spikes from the "Old Hall." Art and Elsie are retired and living at 41 Lovett Street, Beverly, Mass.
Don Williams' two granddaughters, Marcia Gail and Leecia Beth Medvidofsky of Keene, N.H., graduated as practical nurses from the Thompson School of Nurses in Brattleboro, Vt., last November and then got married. Leecia became the bride of Richard Excel on November 9 in the Baptist Church at Troy, N.H., and Marcia married Timothy Orkins in the Surry Congregational Church on November 16. The same minister officiated at both services. Congratulations!
Leon Holman is back home again at 1454 Beacon Street, Brookline, Mass., where he is enjoying Ida's home cooking after spending five months in a Boston hospital. Leon is thankful for the many cards and letters he received. He has to use a walker for the time being to help support himself. Best wishes always.
Five '07 classmates attended the annual luncheon on the occasion of the yearly visit of the Dartmouth Club of Sarasota to Anna Maria, Fla. They were Allan Brown, Leon Sprague, Bishop Niles, Orlando and Anna Davis, and Robert and Lura Kenyon. Bill Sanborn's wife Edith and Mrs. Francis Stewart, a Dartmouth mother, both from Port Richey, Fla., were present. All together there were 67 persons, among them others of our time: The Cy Rutherfords and Ralph Curriers '08, the Roger Browns and C.C. Hills '05, the Ned Kenersons and Horace Kidgers '03. Bob Kenyon says: "It was a very enjoyable get-together."
Crick Crocker and wife Helena sailed in March for a two months' trip to Italy, Switzerland, France, England, and Scotland. They are looking forward to having us all over to their South Strafford, Vt., place during our informal reunion in June. Thank you! We are pleased to accept the invitation.
Julius M. Dutton's daughter Mary Evelyn became the bride of Sidney R. Hodges of Westwood, Mass., at the North Congregational Church, Portsmouth, N.H., in February. The newly wedded couple left for a wedding trip to the Laurentians in Canada where they plan to ski. Congratulations!
Louis C. Wood (Tubby) of East Waterboro, Me., is planning to do some timber thinning this summer on his 150-acre estate. This is quite wonderful considering an injured right leg. We are pulling for you, Tubby!
Classmates having birthdays in April are: Allan Brown and John Burton on the 4th; Bill Smart, the 22nd, and Walter Nesmith on the 25th. Happy Birthdays to you all, and especially to Walter who is the oldest. He will celebrate his 87th birthday.
It was sad news to hear of Tom Keady's ('05) death on February 13 at Nashua, N.H., for it brought back fond memories of those wonderful years we all spent at Dear Old Dartmouth. We all remember the football song that Tom wrote "As the Backs Go Tearing By." Tubby Besse '05 wrote me recalling what a fine Dartmouth man Tom was. I agree.
The snow is fast disappearing, the days are getting longer, warmer and spring has arrived. See you all in June on the campus.
