'43 can be proud of a classmate who can write a $25.00 book and get excellent N. Y. Times reviews too. John Reps did it in "The Making of Urban America," a significant study on urban city planning. Times says American civilization courses and the new urban-studies seminars should rush to put the book on reserve.

Chuck Longfield was the last guy JimElleman and I expected to see Hanover Inn lobbying last spring, but there he was with wife Connie and daughter Kathy making the circuit of girls schools. The opinionated but lovable Chuck (Connie says he hasn't changed a bit) allowed he really loves Dartmouth after all and promised to get back to the fall reunion (Cornell weekend). Kathy met Mike O'Connor who squired her around the campus. Mike is Dan O'Connor's son, now a sophomore. Chuck later met RayColby in Montpelier, where Ray is the office machine king and well-known amateur magician. Raymond is the father of three girls and one boy.

This has been a big year for Cal Osberg. At the annual meeting of the stockholders of Ginn and Co., educational publishers located in Boston, he was not only elected to the Board of Directors; he also moved up from Controller, a post he gained in 1961, to Treasurer of the company. In addition Cal and June's oldest child Richard has been admitted to Dartmouth in the new Class of 1969. Daughters Nancy and Martha are in Lynnfield, Mass., public schools.
Your secretary was honored by his selection to represent the Dartmouth Class Secretaries Association on the Dartmouth Alumni Council, a dedicated and productive group meeting twice a year in Hanover. This plus election to the Pottstown regional executive board, Continental Bank and Trust Co., makes the days even busier.
Writing obituaries is the hardest part of this job, especially when the classmate is someone like Tim Donovan, whom I knew so well in Hanover. His many close friends will be saddened with this news.
