The last 32 news reply postcards from last winter and spring and a few other news items (Hint - after this month, I'll need news) are spread out on the table in front of me. I don't quite know where to start. To be arbitrary, I think I'll start with the classmate in this group who is farthest away.

Sam Chu is spending nine months of the current academic year in Taiwan and three months in Japan on a Social Science Research Council grant. In Taiwan, he is working with the Institute of Modern History at the Academia Sinica; in Japan, with the Toyo Bunko.

Next fall Sam returns to the University of Pittsburgh as an associate professor of history. His book, "Reformer in Modern China: Chang Chien (1853-1926)," was published by the Columbia University Press in June.

Continuing with the academic world, KenWay, dean of men at Berkshire Community College in Pittsfield, Mass., has also taken on the duties of registrar. In addition, he teaches psychology. Bachelor Bob Hustek teaches history and coaches basketball at Bassick High School in Bridgeport, Conn.

Don Eddy teaches and does library research work at Cornell. Don holds the titles of assistant professor of English and assistant librarian in the Department of Rare Books. He and wife Edith have one daughter, also named Edith.

Lt. Col. Earl Reynolds is an assistant professor at St. Louis University, St. Louis, Mo., teaching aerospace science to Air Force ROTC students. He is also a management analyst and transport pilot. Earl and wife Anne have two girls, Mary Anne, 18, and Patricia, 14, and a son, Earl, Jr., 2.

Capt. Bill Farnham is a flight commander training pilots in the Air Training Command of the U.S. Air Force. He and wife Williametta have a brood of four: Shelly, 9; William, 8; Shawn, 6; and Mark, 5.

Civilian Haviland Smith also works for Uncle Sam, but in the Foreign Service of the State Department. He does political and economic analysis on Eastern Europe. He is now in Washington and holds the title of economic analyst. While overseas he holds the title of second secretary at the U.S. Embassy to which he is assigned.

Haviland had tours of duty in Prague and Berlin following graduate work at the University of London in Eastern European studies. He expects another overseas assignment about 1967. His family consists of wife Martha and sons Gordon, 8; Haviland III, 5; and Holbrook, 3.

Earl Brabb works for the Alaskan Branch of the U.S. Geological Survey doing reconnaissance geology in Alaska. He claims to have "busted" three helicopters and "chased" two earthquakes. Menlo Park, Calif., however, is home for him, wife Gisela and their two children, Robin, 6, and Kristin, 4.

Attorney Paul Wenger is in Los Angeles, where he serves as a Deputy Attorney General of the State of California. He is married to Sylvia Denys. Back East, fellow lawyer Al Moses recently became a partner of the distinguished Washington, D. C., firm of Covington & Burling.

Returning both to California and to education, Dr. Pete Dallman is an assistant professor at Stanford Medical School. He both teaches and does research in pediatric hematology. Pete and wife Mary have two children, Tom, 5, and Ann, 3.

Dr. Al Tarlov is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Chicago School of Medicine, where he is concerned with teaching, patient care, and research. His family totals seven with wife Joan and Richard, 7; Betsy, 6; Jane, 5; Suzanne, 3; and David, 1.

With his eighth child expected last June, M.D. John Brennan, a general practitioner in Springfield, Mass., probably has the largest family in the Class. He and wife Sharon already had Gary, John, Paul, George Richard, Brian, and Gail. It looks like the males hold a decisive edge in their household.

M.D. George Goldthorpe is also a general practitioner, but in Half Moon Bay, a coastal community 25 miles south of San Francisco. He finds time to be a school board trustee, member of the local Chamber of Commerce, Elder of the Presbyterian Church, and to ski at Squaw Valley. He and wife Cecelia expected Amy, 4, and Penny, 2 to be joined by a third child in April.

M.D. Larry Kinnamon is a psychiatrist at Agnews State Hospital in San Jose, Calif He is married to Alice and sails a Snipe. Turning to our Michigander medicine men, Warren Thamarus practices pediatrics in Midland. He fishes, skis, and hunts, in addition to keeping up with wife Marietta and Karen, 12; Mike, 10; Susan, 7; and Mary, 6.

Floyd Parks does vascular, chest, and general surgery in Bay City, Mich. On the side, he is a Scoutmaster, co-chairman of the American Cancer Society drive, and a member of the United Fund budget committee. He and wife Lorine have two children, Jeff, 5, and Carrie, 3.

In the related field of hospital administration, Jock McIntyre is assistant director of Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore, Md He also teaches Sunday school and works for the local Community Chest. He and wife Charlotte have a brood of three: Karen, 12; Elspeth, 10; and James, 6.

Hugh Johnston is self-employed and engaged in motion picture production. What kind of movies, he doesn't say. His family includes wife Suzanne, six-year-old twins Huguette and Claire, and Frances. Joe O'Connor is personnel director of the M.I.T. Instrumentation Laboratory. He and wife Patricia have a son, Michael, 1.

Whether the M.I.T. Lincoln Lab is the same thing, I don't know. In any event, John Rheinstein is a staff member there and concerns himself with the physics of re-entering bodies, i.e., missiles. He and wife Betty have two children, Bruce. 6. and Lilo, 4.

I've about become convinced that in another decade or so Dartmouth '51's will have, by sheer force of numbers, wrested control of IBM from the Watson family. Here's another '51 IBMer, George Marshall, who sells computers out of Fort Wayne, Ind. He and wife Pat have a brood of three: Nancy, 5; Scott, 3; and lames, 1.

Joe Boissy serves as vice-president of Payne-Jones, Inc., Lowville, N. Y., selling, trouble-shooting, and traveling. In addition to keeping up with the females of the household, wife Rosalee and daughters Leslee, 10; Amy, 8; and Barbara, 7, he finds time for a little golf, tennis, skiing, church activities, PTA, etc.

Down in Hightstown, N. J., Stu Johnson is a product engineer for Electro-Mechanical Research, engaged in photomultiplier work (whatever that is). He and wife Connie have five children, with the boys leading, 4-1: Chip, 11; Lawrence, 8; Mark, 7; Roxane, 3; and Gregory, 1. It seems that Stu got a violin for his birthday and is now taking lessons.

It appears that I've about run out of space and yet still have 11 of those news reply postcards left. If yours is among them, please be patient. I promise that your news will appear in the December column.
