APRIL 1965 LEON W. WEBSTER, REV. CHARLES M. TUBBS

Spring is here. The air is saturated with the sweet scent of orange blossoms in Florida, while the delicious sweetness of the boiling sap in Vermont is tantalizing the taste buds. We are thankful for these joys.

A letter from Dick Hobbs states that his father Don will probably not come to Florida this winter. Don is now spending most of his time with his children, Barbara Dutton in West Ossipee, N. H„ and Richard and Orodon in Lynnfield, Mass. We would like to see Don at our reunion in June.

Another Florida deserter is President Ned. Robbie is stoking his furnace in South Dartmouth and enjoying an occasional visit from Ralph and Mary Sexton and, also, from Ida Charron whose daughter lives nearby. Leon, of course, misses Don and Ned and Edge but is comforted in the knowledge that James and Fannie Walker are in De Land and Ike Maynard in Daytona Beach.

Another stay-at-home is Treasurer Tom who writes, "I used to love to get away on a, cruise, but now Morristown seems very attractive for the winter and I am very comfortable. "All this from our rugged next-to-youngest member of the class. Playing back- gammon and gin rummy with his buddies at the club and "fussing around with his books" keeps this fellow in good physical condition. Take it easy, feller.

A letter to Tom from Roscoe Smith in Oroville, Wash., written in January, states that last April he had to go to a hospital in Wenatchie, 115 miles away for an operation, and was home in two weeks and could still drive his car, but other ailments caused both Roscoe and his wife to spend Christmas in the hospital. Hope Roscoe and Bertha are much better now.

Leigh Turner from St. Louis complains in a letter to Tom, "The winter and snow here has kept me from playing golf since Thanksgiving. I am looking forward to the time I can get to my golf game which is getting poorer all the time." Can you hear Bull roaring down the fairway, "Fore!"?

Thankfully there is at least one member of the class who is still active. Read this fine letter from Matt written February 8.

"On December 12, I went down to Washington, D. C., as guest of the Pigskin Club where I had the pleasure of fraternizing with 950 men — black and white — who have made names for themselves in athletic sports. Several of the men who were picked for the 1964 'All-American Teams' were there.

"Had Christmas dinner with my son in Philadelphia. He is now one of five Deputy City Solicitors for the City of Philadelphia in charge of all appeal cases in which the city is involved. He is aided by five assistants. On December 29 I attended a Bahai Institute on Frogmore Island off the coast of Beaufort, S. C., and since have been traveling, lecturing, etc., about the Faith.

"Love and best wishes to each and every member of the class."

Matt is spending the winter in the Carolinas and Georgia, expecting to return to Boston by April 1. Matt, also, reports that he is in good health, enjoying his work and hopes the other members of the class are equally enjoying their retirement.

If there are other members of the class who can show this vitality, your secretary would be glad to hear from them. Write anyway.

Those of you who were not present at our 60th may not know that Matt took the occasion, also, to have a family reunion. His son and daughter with their mates and children (ten in all) were present. We were glad to see them.

After a lifetime of construction work in the Chicago area, Frank Stowell has retired to his native New England. Supervising the building of their new home and moving from Evanston to Guilford prevented the Stowells from being present at our 60th. We were sorry to miss them. Perhaps Frank and Marie can join us in June. We are expecting a good number including Charlie and AnnaTubbs.

With a good winter in the bag, CharlieDavis writes he would like to celebrate by joining us. Let's all get busy with this slogan, SEE YOU IN JUNE.
