The big news this month, naturally, is of the Alumni Fund Drive and the efforts of our class. I received several letters about the Drive from Bill Subin and Bill Russell a little too late for inclusion in last month's MAGAZINE. The substance of their news has already been covered in earlier columns and the mailings from Hanover which all of you have received. Russell can use more volunteers to help him contact all 63's. Agents are still needed, particularly in New England, New York and Pennsylvania, and California. Write, telegraph, phone, etc. Bill at Apt. 4B, 28 York Drive, Highland Park, N. J. 08902. I hope that some of you have already answered the call, because this column isn't published until it's almost too late to help. But if any of you can act as agents, or haven't been contacted personally and can contribute some time, get in touch with Bill Russell immediately. Subes included a lot more news in his letter, including his wedding date to Petey - it's June 27, I believe in Washington. She's majoring in Speech and Drama at Cornell, graduating in June.

More news from Bill: John Hunter Hicks married Wendy Thomas in December in Kansas City, Mo. I'd like to hear from John and catch up on his address, plans, etc. Gene Kersey has returned from India and was wed to Loleta-Merril Dewar in Crookston, Minn. Pete Suttmeier and wife Merle spent a Chinese New Year vacation in Taiwan. Sutts finishes up his two years at Chung Chi College in June and will do graduate work in this country next fall. He's been working on textbooks for use at the college in Taiwan, especially working on the Philosophy of Science in a new history of Physics text. Do you get royalties, Pete? Joe Gadd and his wife wrote from Germany - he's a battalion support leader now, after serving as a tank platoon leader. Subes has also seen Dave Rosenbaum (working on his thesis at Columbia School of Journalism); Stu Richards (who received his master's in Political Science); Steve Scott (working for an ad firm) and Dave Boldt (writing bylines for the Wall Street Journal) - all in New York.

A letter from Marty Mintz — at Columbia B. School, graduating in September. He's living with Bob Burros and another friend on East 86th Street in New York. Bob is engaged to Marilyn Yazner - but no further details from Marty — maybe Bob will fill us in?

Several marriages: Wally Chappell to Karen Elaine Hubenthal in Bangkok. Karen is a graduate of USC and was studying at the University of Hawaii's East-West Center. Both received State Department grants for a six-month study tour in the Orient. Wally had been studying in Malaysia and Thailand, doing a master's thesis on Siamese drama and dance. In addition to a civil marriage ceremony at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, they were wed in a traditional Thai ceremony. I don't think anyone in our class can top that. If you have time, Wally, I'm sure we'd all like to hear more about the wedding and your studies. Dan Redfield was married to Susan Lowe in West Hartford in February. They'll live in San Diego where Dan is stationed as an ensign with the Navy. Maria Luisa Campbell and Jim Davies were married, also in February. She's a senior at Wellesley and Jim is doing grad work at Harvard.

And engagements: Chuck Goldthwaite to Mary Helen Meisel of University City, Mo. She's an alumna of Kansas University. Chuck is now a grad student at Washington University in St. Louis. Ens. Pete Hollingworth is engaged to Gail Stevens McDaniel. She graduated from Vermont College; I don't know where Pete is stationed - if anyone does, including Pete, please let us know. Bob Bysshe and Elizabeth Anne Beck have announced their engagement - they plan a September wedding. She's a senior at Wagner College on Staten Island and Bob is at NYU School of Business Administration. Lynne Westergerg and John Lehman are also engaged and plan a September wedding. John is working with a New York advertising firm — the same one that Steve Scott is with. Don McKinnon and Nancy Hailer are engaged. She's a senior at Lesley, and I think Don's at school in Boston also. GerryAshworth has been hitting this column pretty regularly, this time for his engagement to Jeanne Oshry. She graduates this June from Springfield College; Gerry starts this fall at Harvard B School - walking to his classes.

A few items in an academic vein: JonMoscartolo, who heads the Art Department at Holderness School, is exhibiting his paintings at the Tilton School — also in New Hampshire. Jon studied at the San Francisco Art Institute and at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan after college. Several Reynolds Scholarships for foreign study went to 63's: Dana Atchley, now a grad student in fine arts at Yale, for research in Belgium, Italy, and England on "The Making of the Renaissance Book"; Pete Jennings, now at the University of Hawaii's East-West Center studying Asian Geography (that's where Wally Chappell and his wife are studying), won his Reynolds for research in geography in Bali, Indonesia; Al Kravitz, studying at the University of North Carolina, will do research in city planning at the London School of Economics.

Brad Rodgers has been awarded a fellowship to assist at a mission hospital in India from the Association of American Medical Colleges. He'll work for 12 weeks at the American Baptist Mission Hospital in Nellore in South India.

That will wind up my efforts for this month — can't emphasize too strongly the need for greater participation from our class in the Alumni Fund Drive. This means contributing on a realistic scale as well as helping Bill Russell out with his Class Agent duties, if at all possible.
