The letters seem to be lessening, only two this month. Please let me know if anything's been happening out there. The letters were from Norm Buchsbaum and Jorge Dandier. Norm's at Yale Law — and the news is of his engagement. His fiancee is Ruth Feder, a junior at Barnard from Griffin, Georgia. They plan a June '66 marriage when both are due to finish school. Norm always did have a soft spot in his heart for southern accents. He also passed along more news of Joe Gathright's engagement to Holly Harrison, a junior at Smith. Their marriage date is June 12. Howie Culver came east from Stanford Law during his Christmas vacation to visit Norm and seems to be fine.
Jorge wrote to John Howland, a classmate of mine here at Penn Law, and Johnny passed the letter along to me for gleanings of 63's. Jorge is out in Madison, Wisconsin, doing graduate work in South American, particularly Bolivian, studies. He plans to be married this summer, but I'll have to wait for more news of that event from him. He's been in touch with Bill Coates, also in Madison, who plans to do some summer re- search work in Peru; Dave Cooke — in the British Guianas at a research station of McGill University; and Fernando De Necochea — at U. of California in Political Science.
A special mention is due the engagement of my old roommate and classmate here at Penn — Steve Lippman. The girl is Sue Tanenbaum — a graduate of UConn — and a very good influence on Steve. Not only does he take 8:30 classes now — but he also gets up for them. Sue is working in Philadelphia and they plan an August wedding in Connecticut. Another engagement which I mentioned before, but which deserves special note is Bill Subin's to Petra (Petey) Dub. She's graduating from Cornell this June and is looking forward to their summer wedding. More news on Steve Mueller's wedding in January. His wife Valerie plans to attend Wayne State University next fall while Steve works with Ford International in Dearborn. Mich.
Dave Warr was married to the former Evelyn Joan Munday at Wellesley, Mass., on January 22. She graduated from Westbrook Jr. College in 1961. Dave picked up his Master's from UMass last year and is now attending B.U. They honeymooned in the Virgin Islands. One of Dave's ushers was Dick Peterson. Doug Johnstone and Peggy Fitzhugh were wed in Colorado in January. Doug's teaching skiing at Vail whenever he can, but both he and his new bride are candidates for Master's degrees at Wesleyan. Peggy graduated from Oberlin and taught English for two years at a University in Taiwan before returning to this country. Another engagement Daryl Erickson and Sharon Morrison. She is a senior at Wheaton and Daryl is attending Northwestern Med School in Chicago. They plan a summer wedding.
Gerry Ash worth is still being honored as a member of our relay team in the Tokyo Olympics last year. This time it's neither a banquet nor an award. Instead his hometown of Haverhill, Mass., is celebrating its 325th anniversary. To aid in commemorating the festivities, thousands of silver and bronze medals are being made up — and on the back, is a picture of Gerry.
Much military news this month — BillSpencer, second lieutenant in the Air Force, has taken up new duties at Holloman AFB in New Mexico. He's an information officer with the Tactical Air Command.
Pvt. Tom Holzel has finished basic training at Fort Dix so I can't tell where he is now. If he knows, please drop me a line. Pete Davis is a Marine Aviation Cadet down at Kingsville, Texas. By the time you read this column, Pete should have his wings and be proficient in the jets. Finally, Pfc. Fred French was a member of the Fife and Drum Corps which marched in the Inaugural Parade. The unit is stationed at Ft. Myer, Va., and is the official ceremonial unit in Washington. It's quite an elite group — I don't know if Fred had to sign up for twenty years in order to be selected for it.
The rest of the engagements, marriages, etc. were already sent to you by way of Skip's Feb. 17 Newsletter. Just a couple of reminders before I wrap up this month's effort. The Alumni Fund Drive is fast approaching. If you can help out, contact Bill Russell, if he hasn't already contacted you. We're definitely going to make a better showing this year.
Take a look at the news of the various Alumni Clubs throughout the country mentioned in the MAGAZINE. They certainly would like you to join and to help out with enrollment and other club activities in your city. It's tremendous fun. I'm helping on the Philadelphia Club's Newsletter and also its enrollment of prospective Dartmouth men. The latter is very interesting — I'm positive all of you will find it the same.
That winds up a shortened column for this month. Please write — I'm sure everybody has-"some news to report.
