I would like to take this opportunity to wax eloquently about our great football season but by the time you read this article skiing will be the major sport in Hanover; proving not only that we had a magnificent football team and Dartmouth is a multi-sport College but that the fastest moving thing in Hanover is time itself.

We heard a fascinating story recently concerning Carl Schoelles, a Dartmouth Navy man who has maintained close contact with Dartmouth through newsletters and the ALUMNI MAGAZINE since he left Hanover. Fulfilling a life-long dream, Carl went back to school several years ago to study medicine and will receive his M.D. this year. His daughter will graduate from high school at the same time he graduates from medical school, and there aren't many of us who can make such a statement. Carl plans to return to Florida to establish a practice and we all join in wishing him the very best of success in his new career.

success in ms new caieei. Recent news from Ed Johnson concerns his appointment as plant manager of the Kendall Company Fi- ber Products Division in Walpole, Mass. This is a big plant and Ed has been working up to the responsibility in other New England and Southern loca- tions. He spent three years in the Marines after Dartmouth and Tuck and was recalled to active duty in 1951. Following this service, he returned to Kendall and started his climb up the ladder. Ed and Betty and their two children live on Coach Road in Walpole.

Fred Wilmot is vice president of sales and manufacturing for Columbia Records of Canada, Ltd. Fred and his family have lived in Toronto for eight years where he is an active member of the Dartmouth Club of Ontario. Bill "Strike" Striker is in Lincoln, Mass., where he is senior engineering physicist for Baird-Atomic, Inc. Following graduation from Dartmouth he attended Lafayette College and Tufts University, receiving A.B. and M.S. degrees in Physics at these institutions. Strike and Marjorie have four daughters, ranging in age from eleven to six and, therefore, join the Kimballs in that happy female situation. I'm afraid we'll be short on Dartmouth Indians but may come up with a few Carnival Queens in future years. Incidentally, are there any other '46 families with four daughters?

Jim Casserly was made a non-voting stockholder of Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith, Inc. earlier this year, becoming the second '46 to be so honored. Frank Cole attained this position last year, so all of you erstwhile investors have two well-placed friends in the business. Phil Reinertsen has been promoted to economics research manager at Aetna Life and Casualty Company. Prior to joining Aetna in 1964, Phil served on an Economic Cooperation Administration mission to Sweden and held positions as corporate economist with two companies.

A brief note from Frank Guarini to Frank Ettari indicated that the former hoped to be elected State Senator early in November but I have not yet heard the results. Frank has also been appointed to the National Advisory Board, Eastern Area, for the American Red Cross. Bruce O'Brien has been promoted at Kemper Insurance, having been named assistant vice president of two divisions of this huge insurance company. Bruce joined Kemper in 1957 in their Chicago office and later transferred to the New England division. He and his wife now reside with their four children (not all girls) in Newton Highlands, Mass.

We were very sorry to hear recently of the death of Dr. Howard Sloman and forward the sympathies of the class to Dorothy and the children. A further report is included elsewhere in this or a subsequent magazine.

Renold Thompson has been named secretary of the Oglebay Norton Company of Cleveland, Ohio. He has been with this company since 1952, having been made assistant to the president in 1961. He and Shirley live in Shaker Heights, Ohio. FrankBartnick is manager of plant services at ITT Semi-conductor Company located in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Well, that's all for now and I am somewhat shocked to see that the mailbox is empty. First time this has happened this year and I don't like the feeling, so please help me out. Hope that we see some of you during the ski season.

Best regards from the hills.
