Having complained about lack of news for the past few months I recently found several articles dating back to October that were mislaid and, therefore, unreported. With sincere apologies to those affected I hasten to correct that mistake.

Dr. Wilbur Pillsbury, dean of students at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., appeared on a panel of educators at a national educational conference held at Williston Academy this fall. Wilbur got his M.B.A. at Tuck and earned his doctorate at Indiana University.

George Hilton, currently a guest scholar at the Brookings Institute in Washington, D. C., was named chairman of President Johnson's Task Force on Transportation Policy. George has become an expert in the transportation field over the years and this great and challenging honor is the latest recognition of his ability. Ed Lane-Reticker, a vice president of the Connecticut Bank & Trust Company, was particularly active this fall as president of the West Hartford (Conn.) Taxpayers Association which opposed a proposed new charter for the town. Ed went on to Harvard Law School after Dartmouth and taught at the University of North Carolina before going into business.

Gene Bronstein, divisional merchandise manager of men's and boys' wear at Boston's Filene's Department Store, gave an interesting talk this fall on "The Role of the Salesman in Today's Economy." Gene went to Harvard Business School after leaving Hanover and held important positions at A & S in New York before moving to Boston. Ed Kuhn, top man in McGraw-Hill's trade book division, continues to draw raves for the brilliant job he has done in making his division a significant factor in this field. As editor-in-chief he has built a great organization of editors who have helped him in this exciting climb to prominence.

Last fall Paul Donovan represented President John Sloan Dickey at the inauguration of the new president of Stonehill College in North Easton, Mass. Paul is a member of the Cohasset (Mass.) School Committee. Another report dating back to October concerned Lowell Thomas, forced to make an emergency landing at night in Alaska. Lowell and another legislator were flying from Galena to Fairbanks when his light plane ran out of gas — faulty lines, not negligence. He is an experienced pilot with over 3000 hours, and using his landing lights to spot possible landing areas, found a highway which served his purpose. Incidentally, Lowell made a strong bid for Congress but lost out by a narrow margin. In the process, however, his reputation and image developed considerably and he is now a strong force in that new and exciting state.

Well — my pleas were finally answered and several of you responded with long newsy letters. Thanks so much - not only do I enjoy hearing from you - others will too. Larry Bartnick is the chief - administrator for the entire school system in Goshen, N. Y. Principal of the high school for two years, he took over the whole system of 2030 students and 106 teachers last August and has been kept hopping ever since. Larry and Bobbie have four children, ranging from a four-year-old son to a college freshman son, Bob, at St. Lawrence University. Two girls, Kathy, 16, and Lorrie, 9, round out the family.

A letter from Luther Leeger announces a new law partnership in San Diego. The name of his firm is. Mizeur and Leeger and they are nicely situated in one of the new 25-story buildings recently erected in this southern California city. Luther is also the proud father of four children, two boys and two girls, and would like to see any '46's living in or traveling through the city.

After many years in this country BobPensmith is moving his family abroad. An employee of Standard Oil of New Jersey since graduation, he started in Baltimore, transferred to Tulsa, Okla., in 1948, and to the New York office in 1950. During recent years he has been in the Comptroller's Department where his primary responsibility has been in the area of exploration and producing activities, and in 1964 he was appointed Comptroller of the newly organized Esso Exploration Company, Inc. As of Jan. 1, 1965 he is involved in the same post with Esso Standard Libya and will soon move to Tripoli, Libya. The company employs about 1000 people in this country. Sounds like a fascinating move, Bob - keep us posted.

Thanks again to you who have responded to my plea for news. I could use more of course, so keep it coming.

Best regards from the hills.
