Playing good soccer at the beginning of the season, Coach Whitey Burnham's varsity slumped in its fourth game and lost a 6-1 decision to powerful Brown here. In control at Middlebury to open the season, Dartmouth made a pair of defensive mistakes and lost 2-1. At Amherst the Green reversed the count and won 2-1. The Princeton game, after overtime, ended 0-0.
Junior Bob McGee, a former halfback, has taken over as goalie. Season-starter Doc Hagen was injured early and the junior goalie was forced to watch the action on crutches. McGee was then injured in the Bruin battle.
Ab Oates tutored his freshman team to a 3-2 mid-season standing. The young Greens defeated Kimball Union 5-0 and Andover 3-2 before losing to strong Middlebury 4-1 and Brown 6-0. The club bounded back with 2-0 verdict over Norwich on the road. Greg Church, Elkhart, Ind., was elected captain of the team. The former Exeter captain is a halfback.
