Coach John Curtis, with new mentor Quent Currie in charge of line play and veteran Elmer Lampe working with the ends, has kept up a fast pace on the gridiron thus far. The freshmen conquered Holy Cross, 21-14, at Chase Field and stormed back the following Friday with an impressive 49-8 win over Brown. Quarterbacks Bill Koenig, Salem, Ore., and Roger Landholm, Crosby, Minn., have been leading the attack. Against the Bear Cubs, Dartmouth ran for 260 yards, while limiting Brown to but 12. In the air it was the Bruins in charge, 203-95. Halfbacks Tom Miller, West Allis, Wis., and Clark Beier, Brookfield, Wis., scored twice for Dartmouth. Miller also had the first touchdown against Holy Cross.
Offensive guard Tim Schad, Grand Rapids, Mich., was elected captain of the freshman team. Schad is 6-0, 195 pounds.
Gene Ryzewicz (15) off for good yardage against Brown on a pitchout from Beard.
