The three four-story buildings on the bank of the river beyond the Thayer School, informally known as the Wigwam dormitories, have been renamed in honor of three outstanding men of our era, John H. Hinman of our class, Edward S. French '06, and John R. McLane '07.

Stacey and Bernice Irish are visiting their daughter Edith Durell at Seal Beach in California and expect to return to their home in Evanston in March.

New posts for Lewis-Shepard Products, Inc., "top command." In November ArthurL. Lewis, co-founder, was elevated to the new post of chairman, and John H. Lewis, his son, former executive vice-president, succeeded him as president.

Rev. Joseph Hammond, though retired from the ministry for 14 years, cannot stay retired, and is serving an interim pastorate at the West Newfield, Me., Congregational Church. He writes, "Keeps me young (79)."

Tom Morrissey in October reported an operation for a tumor on his left jaw, but expected a favorable prognosis.

The class of 1908 lost one of its outstanding intellectuals in the passing of EdwardP. Bartlett of Belchertown, Mass., on December 14. He retired in 1947 as senior research chemist for the DuPont Company of Wilmington and as part of his research synthesized nylon which has been so useful for many purposes from ladies hose to aircraft cables.
