Fred Hodgson sent a Christmas greeting with a note that he expects to continue the work with pollen collection for allergy testing for various hospitals.
Stacey and Bernice Irish were given airplane round trip tickets to California as a combined Christmas and 53rd Anniversary gift by their daughter Edie and her husband on November 26 and expect to return March 6. They rented a very comfortable apartment in Leisure World and have seen several friends of their younger days.
One of the long silent members of our class, Ralph Pease, sent in his story for the 60th which I will report in part. He and Elizabeth retired a few years ago. Both were pretty well worn out. Beth overdid too long, got edema and Ralph had to take over the house work for a couple of years. Last November he had to go to the hospital for an operation for a bad hernia from which he has been recovering and expected to be able to get outdoors in the middle of January.
Henry Stone also sent in history for the 60th from which I quote in part. "Blanche and I are so happy with our eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom live not too far away so we see them all each year. . . . The D. D. Chace Lumber Company, after one hundred nineteen and a half years in business, closed December 31, 1964. The rest of the letter covers the story of his progeny, of which he probably leads the class.
Larry Symmes refers to a table of birthday statistics which, with Fred Munkelts' assistance, I expect to report in the next newsletter and continues: "Thank you for your birthday computation. I shall enjoy it when I am finally dug out from under the chaos created by the transit strike. . . . I am afraid that my age, as shown by your record, is too high to contend with the frustration I have endured for the past two weeks. On my recent walks on the 'sidewalks of New York' I have kept up with a lot of youngsters and I've walked by some of them."
Art Wyman, as of December 21 wrote: "My interior plumbing repairs recently madat Salem Hospital find me especially grateful for these '08 Christmas cards among others."
