Since 1950 alumni of the Ivy League colleges now residing in San Diego have been meeting annually for a day of golf and fun. Alumnae of the well-known Eastern women's colleges have also met at various times for discussions of social-cultural and educational matters. Recently the two groups joined to form the Ivy Colleges Conference of San Diego County; the membership includes alumni of Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Pennsylvania, Princeton, and Yale as well as alumnae of Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Mt. Holyoke, Radcliffe, Smith, Vassar, and Wellesley, totaling over 2500 members.
This new organization seeks to raise funds to provide financial aid for qualified college students and local secondary schools by sponsoring annually a social-cultural event which will also stimulate interest in the educational institutions involved. The First Annual Ivy Colleges Dinner, Dance and Dartmouth Glee Club Concert on March 25 inaugurated the project.
