Another year, another column and welcome back to all '455. ...

The Class has a new Dean. Bill Swartzauali has been named dean of students at Amherst, stepping up from his previous position as associate dean of the "college. Before moving to Amherst, Bill had been dean of students and director of the student union at the University of Pittsburgh.

From Marshalltown, lowa, Al Russell reports ... "new position with Lennox as director of the educational division ... a new division set up to manufacture models for use in teaching structure, mechanical systems, etc."

Gene and Anita Wilkin have left the rockbound coast of Maine for Springfield, Mass. Gene, still with the Gannett Publishing and Broadcasting Company, is the vice-president and general manager of Springfield's television and radio station, WHYN.

A hearty well-done to Moose Rowan,Frank Hutchins, their ninety some assistant agents and all generous classmates for their record-breaking results in the .'67. Alumni Fund which saw the Class attain its quota of $25,000. Genius in this field is further attested to as Cliff Jordan was co-chairman of the summer institute on the fundamentals of educational fund raising and development sponsored by the American Alumni Council.

Roy Duke has been appointed to the advisory board of the Oranges of the National Newark and Essex Bank. Roy, who is vice-president and treasurer of The Colonial Life Insurance Company of America, is also a trustee of the East Orange General Hospital, serving as chairman of its administrative committee and a member of its executive committee.

Russ Chase is still a vice-president - but is now with Eastex, Inc., where he is director of marketing. Russ, who was previously with International Paper, is living in Beaumont, Texas.

Promotions are a dime a dozen, but engagements in this class are rare these days. Congratulations to Mo Frye, who has taken the first step in leaving the safety of bachelorhood. The bride-to-be is Miss Jane Ellsworth of Boston. Will this step cost you any female votes in future political campaigns, Mo!?!

Nick Sandoe is now director of public affairs of the Claremont Colleges, California. Nick, who has been on the scene in Hanover for eighteen years, where his valuable help in class affairs has been much appreciated, will have the responsibility of planning public programs aimed at attracting wider interest in the six schools making up the Claremont Colleges. '45s will miss Mary and Nick in Hanover and our best wishes go with them in their new ventures.

Here and there. ... Fletch Clark is now based in Hong Kong with the interesting address of Mei Foo Investments. ... DeanMiller reports "still practicing internal medicine in the Milwaukee area - have four children". ... Bob Nelb is the director of research and development in a division of Uniroyal, Inc. ... Father Allan Smith, of the Episcopal order of the Holy Cross and prior of the monastery at Bolahun, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Province of West Africa, has recently been in this country, as reports have been received of his preaching in Miami. ... Geoff Maclay has been elected president of the board of trustees of the University School of Milwaukee. ... Al Gruer is vicepresident and marketing manager of Hamilton Foundry, Hamilton, Ohio.
