Once he finally made the break and left Manhattan, Ted Bennett likes to move. Having stopped briefly in Baltimore and the diocese of Maryland, Ted is now in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, where he is the bishop's administrative assistant, treasurer of the diocese and priest in charge of a mission on St. John. In Ted's words: "Island life has its advantages. The trade winds keep us non-polluted and cool - I was in New York during that heat wave and nearly melted away. It never gets that hot or humid here. The beaches are clean, the water unbelievably clear. It's really a great life. If anybody is cruising this way this winter and wants an 'insider's' view of St. Thomas let me know. I can always be reached thru the Episcopal diocese. And incidentally the U.S. press has grossly exaggerated the 'troubles' here."

Two '45 military men have been heard from. EvGoltra, colonel, USAF, MC is the current president of the society of USAF flight surgeons. Ev has been commander of the USAF school of aerospace medicine. Brooks AFB, Texas since 1971. Red Merrill, colonel, USMC tells his own story: "We left Camp Lejeune in May. Now a home owner in Carlsbad, California, where we plan to live when I retire. Expect that day to come along in a couple of years. Currently I'm on Okinawa where I am the assistant chief of staff-G-4, for the Third Marine Division. I'll be out here for one year. It is an unaccompanied tour so the family is in Carlsbad. I've been here three months with nine to go."

Dave Wright checks in with the news that he is ski patrol director at Aspen Highlands, after having spent six years on the Vail ski patrol, the last year as assistant director. Dave goes on to say: "I hope to make Aspen Highlands the most professional in the country." All '45s keep this in mind on your ski travels - it's rather comforting plus good company, to have the patrol under the direction of a classmate.

Frank Hutchins is the current secretary of the American association of advertising agencies. The article bringing this matter to our attention describes Frank as "tanned, lean, and handsome" - typical '45 characteristics!!

And a recent convert to the Maine scene reports in - Gene Pinney writes: "Many changes for the Pinney family. I retired from the Foreign Service at the end of March after 28 years service. We opted for the Maine coast after checking other parts of New England and the Rockies. We've rented a house on Rockport Harbor while we look for a place to buy. Boating, fishing, skiing, the wilds and good schools for the children - the place seems to have everything we like." Glad to have you aboard, Gene!!

Until next month ...
