Of the various means of communication, some have been in use since prehistory, others are very modern. Ned Estes is making use of one which, if not unique, is at least very unusual. He "talks" to his son, Charles, in Scottsdale, Ariz., by means of tape recorders. His son is manager and deputy director of the Motorola Electronic Research Laboratory in Phoenix. Incidentally, Ned has completed twenty years at his Dover church. I quote from a statement of his last September, "It is a beautiful church and has a beautiful organ valued at $50,000. Of course I love it, as well as the fine chorus. They tell me to hang on as I wish to." Good for you, Ned.
Ernest White, our newly installed Bequest Chairman, has reservations at the Yacht Basin Apartments, Clearwater Beach, where he and Hilda are to spend the month of February. He writes that his son, John White '45 took his, John's, son Nathaniel to the Dartmouth-Holy Cross football game. It is no secret that both "Cy" and John hope to interest Nat in Dartmouth. A word further about Cy. He is undoubtedly the "walkingest" member of our Class. He makes a regular practice of walking miles day or night. In a note from Hilda, she states that on that afternoon he had walked two miles and another mile that same evening on the community dock!
Equally surely Bob Falconer will qualify as the most traveled member of our Class. He counts no less than 73 as the number of countries of the world that he has visited. He and Edna have not lost their zest for travel, but they find that the inevitable difficulties and possible dangers of trips loom rather disturbingly high. They, like the rest of us, realize we're getting no younger.
An addendum on our new bride and groom: Harry and Cecil Lill are getting happily settled in the home where Harry has lived for over 38 years. Their address, then, is the same as found in our class directory.
Edith, widow of John Furfey, died October 3. She will be remembered for her kind, faithful and loving care of John in his long years of physical incapacity.
