The distinction of being farthest from the wintry weather of Hanover is accorded to the Campbells, Carroll and Clara. As they have done for several years, they are spending the winter with their daughter in Hawaii. We are told that the "very cute" grandson is a real playmate for "Camp." This item of news came through Stanley Besse. He writes that he has been strictly house-bound this winter, but has kept comfortably warm in his apartment. He adds with obvious satisfaction that he can be called "Tub" no more; he is down to 140 pounds in weight.
A report from Pollock Balph, which should have appeared last month, includes some family data to supplement his "Profile" of 1965. With his daughter Jean and her husband Bill Everson, who did the driving, Pollock spent last Thanksgiving in his old home in Brilliant, a town some seven miles below Steubenville, Ohio. Bill has a widowed sister there and a father who has passed his 97th birthday. Pollock's daughter Jean, he says, takes the best of care of him. It will be recalled that his wife passed on in 1927. His granddaughter Joan is taking postgraduate courses in library work at the University of Michigan; his grandson Jim is Dartmouth '70.
Ernest and Hilda White flew to Boston January 31, spent the night in the Airport Motel, and flew on to Tampa February 1, hence to Clearwater Beach for the month of February Their grandson Nat is planning to enter Wesleyan next fall. Their younger grandson Ben expects to keep up the family tradition (Cy, son John '45) by entering Dartmouth.
Roger Brown, who rarely misses any Dartmouth gathering that is attainable for him, was the lone representative of our age group to attend the luncheon of the Dartmouth Club of Sarasota on January 19. He and Jane are thinking of returning once more to the Alumni College next summer. They are indefatigable!
Hearty congratulations to Ned Estes. After a full career at Robert College in Turkey, Ned has now completed twenty years as organist and choir master at the First Parish Congregational Church in Dover, N.H. In appreciation of his dedicated service, Ned was accorded a testimonial dinner on January 16 at the church and was presented with a beautiful plaque as a lasting mark of what Ned had meant to the church. Ned is now considering whether to accept the invitation to continue to serve one more year.
Ed Richardson writes cheerfullv that, in spite of limitations in his and May Alice's strength, they are holding their own and are able to enjoy their home and take short trips in their car.
