25th Reunion June 15-18, 1967
Pretty soon it's going to be "June is bustin' out all over" and if you haven't really faced up to the big decision yet, now's the time to do it! You only get one go at a 25th reunion - one chance to take a few days off from the merry chase to revisit the place and the people that helped start it ail. So mark those dates - June 15-18, 1967, and plan now!
Attendance Chairman Dick Nehring says that our count now stands at a whopping 800. That's 250 classmates, more or less as many wives, and more progeny, plus one grandchild. This is a record-bustin' figure already and we expect more to come. There's room for all!
Chairman Dex Richards and his committee will be mailing all kinds of pertinent detail during the next few weeks - including the formal registration form about March 1. Room reservation forms will be mailed by the college about the same time, along with the detail of plays and other college events you may wish to attend.
Among our reunion highlights will be a Friday morning Hanover Holiday session staged by Harry Bond entitled "The American City: Triumph or Disaster." Participants will include our own Bud Dutton, JerryTallmer, Ed McLaughlin, Dave Sargent, and perhaps others.
Another highlight is a Saturday morning session led by Admissions Director Eddie Chamberlain '36. for all interested teenagers and parents, on the broad subject of preparation for college and the application and admissions decisions.
The calendar is full of all kinds of fare, and, above all, is flexible enough to Jet each choose his own according to his interests. That's the fun of it all, so tell the boss you're taking a few days and come on up!
Stain Stambaugh has already written you about transportation possibilities, and he stands ready to help any voice crying in the wilderness. Take him up on it!
Bud Ruffner recently phoned he's bringing the family from Atlanta and plans to spend a few days at Canada's Expo '67 as well. Montreal's only a skip and a jump, you know, so maybe more than another of you will do the same.
And don't forget, the Jim Froudes are coming from Bangkok and the Jim Ingersolls from Australia. 'Round the girdled earth!
Sometime this spring, before reunion, Dick Lippman and his committee will be sending you the 1942 Twenty-Five Year Book on which they've labored for over a year. This is no paperback job. It will be a companion to your Aegis in a very literal sense and should be a treasure to all who care a whit about class affiliations.
On the news front, the New Year's Day wedding of John Wyper to Mrs. Wiiliam McCarthy (Margaret Verhoeff) of Marblehead Neck, was recently announced.
Second-hand word has it that Dr. GeneHoch of Rye, N. Y., has acquired property in Lyme, N. H„ which places him among the growing number of '42's who have done so in the upper New England area in recent years. We also hear that Gene and Margery's daughter is betrothed to a recent Dartmouth graduate of the 1963 Class.
Recent visitors to Hanover included Sallyand Craig Kuhn from Pittsburgh to visit son Jim '68, daughter-in-law Anne, and grandson James Craighead Kuhn IV no less. Their stay included a visit with Muffin and Jim Farley.
Alex Fanelli leaves his post as Cultural Affairs Advisor for the U. S. Information Agency this month to become Special Assistant to President Dickey at Dartmouth College. Details will have to come later.
That's it for this month. See you in June?
