Eddie Jeremiah's last Dartmouth hockey team had a 3-win, 6-Joss record by late January and dim prospects of much improvement.

The new year had brought victories over Middlebury and Army, and defeats by New Hampshire, Brown, Princeton, Harvard, and Northeastern, after a December win over Bowdoin and a loss to Colby.

Team spirit simply was not making up for youth and inexperience. There were bright spots, such as the Princeton game, which was anybody's contest until the third period. However, a more common sight was the performance against Harvard. Despite two brief times when Dartmouth actually led, Harvard dominated the play almost entirely.

Dartmouth's hard-working goalie Warren Cook '67 of Williamstown, Mass., made 41 saves, while the Harvard goalie only had to turn back Dartmouth shots 12 times.

Best all-round game of the season so far was the Army encounter played in Hanover. Dartmouth won 6-4, a clear upset that saw Pete Rosser '67 of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Bill Smoyer '67 of Princeton, N. J., score two goals and one assist each.

The Indians were aggressive throughout. They protected their goalie, the forwards were backchecking alertly, and the passing was the best of the season.

A few nights later, however, Dartmouth was in the Boston Arena, the opponent was Northeastern, and Dartmouth lost 6-2. Northeastern jumped to an early 3-0 lead. Most of the action took place at the Dartmouth end of the ice, and Dartmouth could not maintain any semblance of a sustained attack.
