Dartmouth prepared for the big carnival meets of February with a team generally regarded as tops in the East. Both nordic and alpine skiers were doing well as individuals in various open events.

Edward French Gillette '67, Barre, Vt., was emerging as the Green's top cross-country man and possibly Dartmouth's most likely candidate for an Olympic team spot next year. He won the cross-country event at the Franconia Nordics and he was one of five men chosen by the U.S. Eastern Ski Association to compete in National Cross Country Week, January 23-29, in Durango, Colo.

Other Dartmouth skiers expected to win their share of competitions before the season ends are Erik Sunde of Oslo, Norway; John Lobitz '67, Portland, Ore.; and John Meek III '67 of Hanover.
