There's a little bit of news in the mailbox today so let's attend to business first and add Kimball's Komments only if necessary.

I was slightly chagrined to find that the Wah-Hoo-Wah column in the February issue of this MAGAZINE stole my thunder by printing the announcement of P. Ballantine & Sons' wise decision to elect Dick Griebel its president and chief executive officer. I'll forgive the editor, however, since he has allowed me to elaborate on the appointment and include a picture as well. Dick's most recent top posts include president and chairman of the board of Fairbanks-Morse and vice president and group executive of Colt Industries in New York City. He had previously been with R.C.A., Raytheon, and the Kellogg Division of International Telephone & Telegraph, so he brings a wealth of experience to his present job. Dick and his wife have three children and live in Smoke Rise, N.J.

The Christmas mail brought a long and newsy letter from the Dan Fitzsimmons who are happy with their move back to the United States after three years overseas in Naples, with side trips to the Holy Land, Greece, and Switzerland (the Navy life sounds great, doesn't it?). Don is a chaplain and has a new duty station in the Washington, D. C., area where he set up operations in a quonset hut, recently transformed into a chapel. Sounds as if Mary Lou and son Bruce are well adjusted to suburbia, U.S.A., and it will be good to see them again at Reunion, if not before.

Steve Olko is now the president of the Society of Harvard (what's that name?) Engineers and Scientists and was good enough to send me a copy of the Society's monthly bulletin carrying the story of his election. After graduating from Dartmouth and Thayer School Steve received his M.S. degree at Harvard before starting his career with an engineering firm in New York. According to the article, Steve is an expert on foundations (buildings, that is), marinas, and harbor installations, although his practice includes a wide variety of building structures, planning, economic, and valuation assignments. He is now engaged in private practice in New York City and claims strong loyalty to Dartmouth, in spite of the above office.

jack Witte and his family are becoming avid skiers and noted a recent ski trip to Michigan for the whole tribe. He also mentions an October trip to Acapulco where he caught a record sail fish. That seems to be combining the best of two worlds.

Good news recently from George andNancy Razee who report a third child, second son, born on December 13, 1966. George is rector of Trinity Parish in Thomaston, Conn., and tells this interesting story. Their new son is a direct descendant of Eleazar Wheelock through his daughter, Theodora Wheelock Phelps. He wonders how many descendants of Eleazar there are and, more particularly, how many male descendants are currently eligible for Dartmouth. Any amateur historians in the group?

That does it - the rest is pure R.Y.K. Keep hearing reports of new reunion plans and each one sounds better than the last. A recent count from genial Jack Whitman indicates that over 400 classmates, wives, and children have signed up for the June bash and confirmations are still coming in. Looks like a good one and the more the merrier, so throw away your cares and worries and head for the hills. With that, number, your hard-working committee can practically guarantee something for everyone. The Swinging Twentieth is a great occasion for those who have never come back to a reunion to get started and particularly to get in practice for the Stately Twenty-fifth. And for those who have been back before, they get better all the time.

Best regards from the hills.
