In spite of the cold weather and deepening snows, wedding news is still in the forefront. George Gardella and the former Miss Eileen O'Connor were married in November. George graduated from New York University School of Law last year. They are now living in New York City. Steve Avidon and Kathy Friend have announced their engagement. Steve is a doctoral candidate in political science at the University of Pennsylvania. Kathy, a graduate of Grinnell College, is studying for a master's degree at the Columbia University School of Social Work.
Mike Bloom, recently returned from two years of Peace Corps service in Bolivia, has been named a Peace Corps Associate Director, in Panama. By now Mike is in Santiago, Panama, which will be his headquarters. He will provide administrative support for some 45 community development Volunteers in the surrounding rural area. In Bolivia, Mike was a rural community development Volunteer.
Bill Martin and his wife Pat were recently transferred to Germany for a year or more; In a recent news flash from Syracuse University we learned that Doug Montgomery is assisting with the Syracuse tennis program while at work on his Ph.D. in the Maxwell School of Citizenship. Selling out the big Green, eh? Chuck Greer and his wife Susan just returned from two years of teaching at the Chung Chi College under "Dartmouth Project Asia." They are now living in Seattle, Wash., where Chuck is doing graduate work in the economic geography of Asia at the University of Washington. Susan is teaching French and working for a master's of arts degree in French. At Chung Chi College in Hong Kong, Chuck taught geology and geography, while Susan taught French and English.
Dick Gladstone and Debbe Sebell announced their engagement in November. Dick is employed by the Internal Revenue service in Washington and has promised not to forget his old college ties.
Dune Hughes has received a Richard King Mellen Fellowship to the Department of City and Regional Planning in the Harvard University School of Design. Larry Williams is now in Nepal in a program of the International Farm Youth Exchange. He is on leave from Brown University where he is studying for a master's degree in music.
Fred Rothenberg is working for the Boston Patriots in the Public Relations Department when he isn't studying at Columbia Law School.
Steve Coit and Toby Spector were engaged in December. Steve is now a student at Yale Law School. He is also a member of the faculty at Southern Connecticut State College where he is an instructor in sociology.
Lt. John F. Ingham and Charlene welcomed Christopher Van Wie Ingham in the wee hours of February 11. John is stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, and hopes to receive his discharge in time to return to Hanover in the fall. Meanwhile his proud grandfather '27 is working on Chris's application for the Class of '89.
