As this is my first issue as class secretary, I will lead off with an appeal for all members of the class to send all information and news about yourselves or our modest classmates to me so that we accumulate a collection of info that can be passed on to all readers of this column, both classmates and other alumni.

The writer was fortunate enough to be able to return to Hanover for the first time in over ten years for the October 12 Dartmouth-Princeton weekend. Military service and living in the West for the past eight years prevented any visit until this long overdue trip. Hanover looked as attractive as ever. Ellen and I spent an evening with Ab and Cindy Oakes which was most enjoyable. Abner feels he is building a recruiting system for future hockey greatness and would certainly appreciate any help we could give him with regards to potential candidates.

The class party after the game at the Tom Dent Cabin was well attended by over 106 classmates, their wives, and friends and was a resounding success. Boodge Erwin, ably assisted by Abner (iceman, turnkey, and commissary steward), deserves a well done for his etfort. Boodge, incidentally, moved from New York to Chicago early in November where he will take up new duties with American Seating. A presidential voting poll was taken after several rounds of cheer and revealed a 3 to 1 edge Republican over Democrat. There were no vocal supporters of the American Independent Party. While space makes it impossible to list all attendees, the following were observed at the party: Jack Wheatley, Bud Schattman, Len Clark, Doug Keare (round trip 24,000 miles to see Dartmouth lose!!), Tom Rosenwald, Tom Harper, Jack Robinson, Mike Levy, Stu Klapper, Pete Conroy, Mike Zissu, Harry Nutting, Tom Neubacher, Bob Danziger, Don Ford, Roger Schmacher, Roy Hinkle, Dick Groeneveld, Dave Haight, Dave Stackpole, Cliff Phalen, Rich Worrell, Bill Magavern, Bud Allen, Ted Rowe, Ted Sheridan, Lee Smith, and Pete Shipman. All in all, it was an excellent evening.

Edgen L. Abt Jr. has been transferred by IBM to their Data Processing Headquarters, effective August 1, 1968. In his new job he is a Product Administrator for Programing. Systems. Bill Benson is practicing orthopedic surgery in a three-man partnership in Kansas City, Mo. Major Steve Katz is enrolled at Syracuse University where he is working towards an MBA. Fritz Simms is living in Altamonte Springs, Fla., where he is in business for himself as a representative for a tool and die manufacturer, two Japanese trading companies, and a directorcontractor of a new cosmetics company. Fritz says that while the combination appears weird the potential is seemingly good! John Van de Kamp lives in Washington, D. C., where he is now acting director of the Executive Office for U.S. Attorney in the Department of Justice.

Forgetful classmates, take note: The man to contact when you lose your traveler's checks is Pete Hovell. In New York City he was recently elected a senior vice president of American Express Company and general manager of their Money Order Division. Before joining American Express in 1967, Pete was marketing representative in Denver for International Business Machines. Now back in his hometown of New York, he lives at 67 Park Avenue and is still a bachelor, it seems.

An article from the "Patent Trader," a local publication near Chappaqua, N. Y., on 10/5/68 tells of the athletic prowess of Tom Rosenwald in a local touch football league. The article states Tom is adjudged the most physically fit by his teammates and is an accomplished tennis player. I am sure Tom will be glod to discuss this further with anyone feeling dissipated.

From Buffalo comes word that Cliff Phalen has been elected a director of Marine Midland Services Corporation, a subsidiary of Marine Midland Banks Corporation. From the political front comes news of Senator Ron Mackenzie's re-election campaign for a second term in the Massachusetts State Senate. Hopefully by the time this issue goes to press Ron will have been successful.

On Saturday morning preceding the Princeton game, the Class Executive Committee held its meeting with discussions on several topics. Subsequent issues of this column in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE will carry news of the Foreign Student Scholarship Program.

Best wishes for a happy holiday season.
