Bill Russell has once again organized his fine staff of sub-agents to assist him with this year's fund drive. He's covered just about the entire country and you will be hearing from these fellows very soon. I had an opportunity to attend a luncheon where President Dickey spoke about the importance of the annual fund drive and answered our questions about the activities at the College. There is tremendous activity in Hanover, particularly in the political sphere. It would be worth a summer detour to visit the campus for it seems to be an exciting place to be.

We are still getting a wonderful response on our. questionnaires and I will pass along more information and try to leave the rest for the Newsletter.

Dave Browne has written from Viet Nam in the Cam Ranh Bay area where he is inspecting construction contracts for that area. He is still unmarried and should be returning from Viet Nam in the near future. He is a lieutenant, as is Frank Jerabek, who is in the Navy there, stationed in Saigon. Dave was unable to pass along any further information about Frank. Also in service is Bob Oakes. He is married and will soon be in Frankfurt, Germany, but didn't tell me what his specific duties were to be. He has seen Harris Aaronson, who is practicing law in Pittsfield, Mass., and Vinny Di Figlia, who is studying law at Southern Cal after leaving the Navy. Rick Sulkes is presently in the service in the Air Force at George Air Base in California. He's been there since July as a dentist. He was married in January of last year to Sharon Garland and is a father of a son born on January 12 of this year named Destry Jason.

Stan Kogan has written from Montifiore Hospital where he is presently a surgical resident. Stan plans to enter the Army in July as my wife tells me almost every male doctor currently has to do (fortunately female doctors haven't been drafted yet). Stan and his wife Barbara have a daughter Jamie, aged two, and Barbara expects a second child this month. Bob Goldberg, who feels that allowing women to enter Dartmouth might raise its academic standards, is living in Vernon, Conn., with his wife Carole and three-year-old son Jonathan David. He is a senior sales representative with a publishing house. Carole is a graduate of Smith College, Class of 1963. Another "no" to the question that allowing women to enter the College would lower its academic standards was offered by Rick Bowes' wife. Rick lives in New Canaan, Conn., where he is an official of the Perkin-Elmer Corporation which is in Norwalk. Joan and Dave Warr replied to the questionnaire and let me know that they and their two-year-old son, David Jr., are living in Wareham, Mass. Dave Sr. is attending B.U. studying for a Ph.D. in Biochemistry.

Jim and Marcia James and their son Benjamin IV are living in Manlius, N. Y., while Jim works for the Carrier Company in Syracuse as a manufacturing engineer. He had been in the Navy for two years with the Civil Engineer Corps stationed in Virginia. Marty Bowne, an accountant with Arthur Young and Company, is living in Rahway, N. J., with his wife and 8-month-old son Jeffery. To the question about the admission of women lowering the College's academic standards, his wife replied "certainly not!" But she does feel that the male tradition should be maintained in order "to preserve the unexplainable Dartmouth uniqueness." That seems to be the more frequent response to this question. The Bowne family hope to get into Hanover for Green Key. The inimitable Tom Holzel replied to his questionnaire graphically with caricatures of me as well as himself. Tom was married last fall and presently is working as an assistant to the president of a consulting engineering firm for the pulp and paper industry in Upper Montclair, N. J., "Technopulp." I will leave the rest of Tom's responses for the Newsletter but he does have some interesting comments about the current undergraduate. Also in business is Bart Osborn in California. He plans to move into the international division of a dairy and food processing company, fie is still single and should be an accomplished surfer by now. .

Steve Frank and wife Nancy are living in Troy, Mich., where he lives across the hall from Bob Nassau. Steve is working for U S. Steel. Gordy Clogston is another corporate executive-type, working for General Foods in White Plains, N. Y. He is married with two children. Dave Barker and Diane have an 8-month-old daughter Martha and are living in Prairie Village, Kan., which seems to be a very far-away place. Dave is working with Union Carbide in Kansas City, Mo. He passed along some news about other 63's including Mike and Muriel Wolland who are new parents of a son, Scott Charles. Elise and John Merrow are living in Bloomington, Ind., where John is "engaged in a Ph.D. program and shortly, we understand, will be engaged in a postnatal program." I assume Dave's information is reliable. John Morrison and Susan have a year-old-son, John IV, Class of '89. He has just taken his examinations for a Master's degree at Hofstra and he is spending some spare time interviewing applicants to the College for the local club in Bay Shore, N. Y. Lloyd Cymrot recently passed the New York Bar and is presently teaching in an East Harlem Junior High School, along with Paul Meyers who also passed his New York Bar and is teaching in another public school (I.S. 201 — East Harlem). Lloyd has heard from Gerry Kochansky who is finishing his doctoral work in Clinical Psychology at B.U. and will marry Chris Lourits this summer. She will graduate from Radcliffe in June. Finally, my buddy Charlie Parton should be a father by the time this column hits the newsstands. He and Trudy have been playing a lot of tennis, but I understand that for the past several months Trudy has cut down on this activity. They are looking forward to reunion; by June he will be finished his Master's degree at Rutgers. Charlie mentioned that Bill Bottger is back in New York City with Time, Inc. and on February 10, 1968 married Shirley Jean Tietien there.

Look for the Class Newsletter shortly. We have plenty of material thanks to all of you who have returned your questionnaires.
