We are very happy that the Trustees have made a special ruling and that Bill Andres will serve two more years. The new Trustee is Norman E. McCulloch Jr. '50 who lives in Rhode Island. His father was in the Class of 1917. We still have a majority of our Trustees living east of the Mississippi River.

And we are also very happy that Nelson Rockefeller '30 is now the Vice President of the United States. He is the first Dartmouth graduate to hold this high office.

Ernest White received a very special tribute in a letter sent out by his family with a New Year greeting. "It is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. Keep peace in your soul." A good thought for all of us to remember.

As far as I know all the men of '05 are holding their own. Eight of us are now on the College's list of the 25 oldest men. Lill, Hodgdon, Hill, Falconer, Balph, Brown, Elliot, and Chase. Two other living men are not on this list - Knight, non-graduate, born July 25, 1883, and English, who never showed any interest in Dartmouth or the Class since he graduated.

On January 23, Jane and I had lunch at St. Petersburg with C. C. Hills. His new apartment at the Pennflora Hotel, a very pleasant one, is on the first floor. We had expected to have lunch at the Clearwater Beach hotel with Fred Chase but we had car trouble in St. Pete and it took so long for repairs that I had to telephone Fred that we could not make it. We plan to work out another trip soon. We tried hard to persuade C. C. to make Hanover in June for our 70th Reunion, but he does not expect to be able to make the trip.

The Sarasota Dartmouth Club meets February 18 with Coach Jake Crouthamel as the principal speaker. Leon Sprague '07, Arthur Wheelock "14, Norman Gordon "23, and Roger Browh '05, all from Anna Maria, plan on attending. Jane and I on February 5 attended in

Sarasota a joint meeting of the D.A.R. and S.A.R. Both organizations are very active in 1975-76 helping celebrate the Country's Bicentennial. The S.A.R. will hold a national meeting at the end of June with headquarters at the Copley Plaza in Boston.

The response of 1905 to our 70th Reunion in June is ahead of last year. Be sure to let me know of any grandchildren attending Dartmouth currently. A list is being made of them for our 70th.

The 1905 perpetual income account now has 15 members. Deceased are Besse, Cunningham, Graves, Haskell, Ladd, Parkinson, Putnam, Ricker, Russell, Stevenson, and White. Living are Brown, Elliott, Falconer, and Hodgeman. Under the existing arrangement new members are accepted for a minimum payment of $100. We would very much like to have a few more '05 men join the group.

As of this writing on February 10, the reports are of heavy show in Hanover. This should make Winter Carnival one of the biggest and best ever.
