I got a number of letters in January which I would like to pass on to you now, as part of our never ending campaign to keep you informed of current news. Ed Rubel writes to say that he and Earline Furber (Skidmore '67) have become engaged and plan to be married on June 15. Ed is still at Wharton Graduate School of Business where he has a year and a half left toward an MBA. Good luck in Philadelphia this summer.
Tom Gibson wrote to announce to his old classmates the birth of his daughter Stephanie Frances who was born on December 27. Tom is working in Washington for "Business Week" and a few other McGraw-Hill publications. He just finished up a couple of years at the University of Michigan where he got a master's degree in German and then journalism. He writes that he also worked for a weekly newspaper in Harbor Springs, Mich., for a while. Geoff Pitchford wrote to me about his wedding to Janet Yeaton. His ski area has done very well this year despite just average snowfall. He writes, however, that their main business is building and selling vacation homes. If anyone needs a home in northern Vermont, just see Geoff.
Al Davis has recently been appointed assistant producer of the Stanford Summer Festivals for the summer season 1968. Al is living in Atherton, Calif., and has just completed a three-year tour of duty as Food Service and Supply Officer of the U. S. Naval Air Facility in Naples, Italy. Al plans to attend Stanford's Graduate School of Business beginning in September.
I got a letter in January from Mike Landay. He passes on the news that Al Nadel was married in December to the former Barbara Deutsch. Mike Dancik attended the wedding. Mark Grenberg is a junior at Cornell Medical School.
John Timbers and Marilyn Donovan were engaged recently and plan a summer wedding. Marilyn is a 1964 graduate of Mount Holyoke and studied in Germany. She now teaches in Boston. John graduates in June from Harvard Law School and after graduation will serve as a law clerk to U. S. District Judge Wyatt of the Southern District, New York. Mike Bailin and Sally Ringland have announced their engagement. Sally went to Vassar. Mike is presently attending Yale Law School and the Yale Graduate School of City Planning. They plan a spring wedding. To complete the engagement news for this month, Steve Dichter and Joan Bauman became engaged in February. Steve graduated with a Master's degree in marketing from Columbia University and is presently working for the New York Telephone Company. An April wedding is planned.
Larry Hayter has recently been appointed to the legislative staff of assemblyman Herbert Rinaldi in Illinois. Larry is an associate editor of two business trade magazines and will concentrate on research related to the assembly's committee on agriculture, conservation, and economic development. Larry is chairman of the Bloomfield, Ill., Young Republican* Club, serves on the Bloomfield Commission on Civil Rights and is a Republican County Committeeman. All Larry has to do is serve in Vietnam and get married, and he will make a fine politician.
