The first of a series of informal class reunions, ably planned and executed by Dave Weld and his ambitious reunion committee, was held in Hanover on October 10 before the Princeton game. As usual, our generous and congenial hosts were Jackieand Bob Kimball. The committee went all out and provided such added attractions as an outdoor tent and music.
The class executive committee held a brief meeting Saturday morning which was devoted primarily to a discussion of reunion plans and a report by Jack Whitman, co-chairman of the bequest committee. The overall reunion program is an excellent one and should prove to be both intellectually and socially stimulating for everyone.
Among the many members of the class attending the festivities at Kimball's before and after the game were Pat and President Frank Ettari, Jean and Jack Whitman, Beth and Bob Hunt, Yummy and Bill Graulty, Mary-Jane and Frank Cole, Jane and Jim Barnet and their four children, Alice and Bill DeStefano, Molly and Bud Scheu, Ruth and Dune Fitchet, Jean and Dave Weld, Nan and Lin Wilson, Gene and Jim VonRohr, Pat and Jim O'Neil, Buol Hinman and his son Mark, Grace and Jud Hannigan and their son Francis, Andy and Win Gruninger, June and Andy Murtha, Margaret and Don Furber, Joan and Robby Smith. The committee thoughtfully invited the sons of classmates who are now at college and among those attending were Rod Thompson, son of Renold Thompson, Paul Ettari, Steve Furber, John Hanley Jr., and Bill Graulty Jr.
On the whole, it was a great kick-oil of our reunion activities with wonderful cooperation from the weatherman and our rather outstanding football team. The only disappointment was that we couldn't get the score to read "46-0."
As a matter of interest and coincidence, there are presently 46 sons of members of the Class of '46 in the college. Among them are Dwight Macomber of the class of 1970; in the present senior class, are Mark Greisberger, Dick Griebel, Dick Hackett, John Hanley Jr., Mike and Tim Hannigan, Andrew Harper and Spencer G. Smith; members of the class of 1972 include David Barnes, John Copenhaver III, Paul Ettari, Douglas Frerichs, Paul Hodes, Wade Judge, Stephen Kepes, Karl Loos, Bill Roberts, Earl Staples III. Dave Stephenson, Craig Wyeth. I'll try to complete the roster of alumni sons in future columns.
I should have further reports of the class gatherings at the Harvard, Yale, Cornell and Penn games in next month's column. In the meantime, please keep the news flowing my way and let the reunion committee know as early as possible what your plans are for next June. .
Reunion Chairman Dave Weld adds his bit: "126 replies, 339 total families and members to attend. Please return your card so we can make our plans and figure costs. . ...
"Special dates to keep in mind are : March 23, 1971, Boston Alumni Dinner; and March 24, ditto in New York."
