Hot off the press are several news items concerning the men of '46, and not having been inundated with news in recent months I hasten to get them on paper in hopes that others will arrive before the fast approaching deadline.

Dick Hartman, investment secretary and a senior officer at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Springfield, Mass., apparently can find time for other activities and is seeking a post on the school committee in Wilbraham, a nearby suburb. Dick is not a newcomer to this important work, having served part of a previous term as the result of a vacancy on the committee. He is also active in other activities both in the community where he and his wife and four children reside and in his company.

We continue to receive reports on StanWaterman's lecture activities, the latest from Maiden, Mass., where he showed his film "Man Looks to the Sea." Incidentally, Stan's films have received international acclaim, one of them having been honored as a "classic" at the 1963 International Underwater Film Festival.

Harvey White, President of Puritan Aerosol Corporation in Berkeley, R.I., has been elected a member of the Young President's Organization, a prestigious group of men who have become presidents of sizeable companies before attaining the age of 40. (I was going to quip that he just made it, having reached the grand age of 39, but I know that he has been president for some time.) Harvey heads a company directing one of the largest contract, custom and private label aerosol packaging plants in the world, and having recently announced a million dollar expansion program, will soon account for approximately eight percent of all aerosols produced in the United States. He and Dottie manage to keep pretty busy, including skiing trips to the north country and occasional visits to Hanover.

Dr. Bob Clifton has been named to the visiting staff of Hunt Memorial Hospital in Peabody, Mass. Bob is a Urologist and graduated from Harvard Medical School after leaving the Hanover plain. Bill De Stefano, the headmaster of Taunton (Mass.) High School, hit the chicken circuit recently with an address on "Public Relations in the Schools." Bill and Alice moved to this city from Stone Ridge, N. Y., last August.

Frank Cox was elected assistant secretary of the Kewanee Oil Co., leaving the assistant controller's office, a position he had held since 1957. Kewanee is the nation's oldest oil company with operations in 26 states and Canada. Frank started his career in public accounting, received his CPA certificate in 1951, and worked with Haskins and Sells before moving to Kewanee in 1957. He and his family live in Camden, New Jersey. '

I am happy to see that men outside of Massachusetts are doing things, too, and have a report that Joe Davenport has been appointed to a new post in the Greater Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce. Joe manages to keep somewhat busy as president of the Volunteer Life Insurance Co. in that city, in addition to many civic duties in organizations such as the Red Cross, Community Concerts Association, American National Bank and Trust Company, and others. He and Jim Kennedy keep the '46 banner flying in Chattanooga but we wish they would venture a little above the Mason-Dixon Line once in a while.

Well, I've shot the works and no mors news has arrived. Happily I can report a nice visit from Jack and Jean Whitman, stopping overnight en route to Burlington on business. Jack is very successfully emulating the large lion (Dreyfus Fund) and is roaring all over New England for his firm. We managed to work a bit on behalf of the class of '46 and I can report that great things are in store for the future. Jack needs everyone's cooperation, however, so pitch in when asked to participate. Better yet, how about some of you guys volunteering your services for various affairs — particularly get-togethers in regions farther removed from Hanover. A lot of fun can be had in a variety of ways. If interested, ask Jack for suggestions.

Alumni Fund time is approaching, in fact, will be in full swing by the time you read this. Tom Adams, our energetic Head Agent, was also in town last week and outlined plans for the campaign plus a fantastic fund organization. These men are willing to work very hard for a superb cause, but can't hope to be successful without full support from every one of you. This year Tom has accomplished miracles in terms of our quota so we have a real opportunity to show that '46 has something to offer other than ex- cuses. Stronger than ever before, we urge your realistic support of the Alumni Fund.

Best regards from the hills.
