Starting off a new year is like taking off in a fog but, unless my addition is off, Dartmouth football scores this past season added up to 23 points ahead of the opposition - which is something! It is interesting to recall that the Dartmouth team of 1914, of which this scribe was a member, scored 359 points to opponents' 25!

News of classmates is sparse this time of the year — having been corralled through the Thanksgiving and pre-Christmas period. This is understandable, but none-the-less obfuscating!

A note from Tony Simoneau, down at Isle of Palms, S.C., says he's still "stumbling along, wondering at the why of things, especially the doings at the College." It is quite likely that our forefathers had similar feelings about the doings at the College 50-odd years ago — and still our Alma Mater survived!

We were glad to see Russ Rice back on the beam again at the pre-Harvard game get-together, after a slight hospital session. He and his good wife joined with this scribe and wife for a sociable breakfast, following the slightly hectic activities of that weekend.

"Jack" Johnson, out in Ashland, Ohio, responding to a card "reminding me I'm a year older, finds me as well as can be expected, a few aches and pains here and there, but hanging in there and plugging away." Atta boy, Jack!

Dick Wyman, the handy man with the camera, came up with an interesting news write-up of the part Peter Wyman Graham played as quarterback of the winning team in a local game at Wayland, Mass. Judging by his middle name, Pete Graham could be Dick's grandson?

Mrs. Speed Granger (Virginia) reports that Speed is still putting several days a week in his capacity as a physician. He was certainly in fine shape when we saw him at the pre-game festivities at Cambridge!

A card from Pete Pray tells of two great weeks at their Madison, Conn., place, prior to returning to Philadelphia to vote. A later phone call reveals that the Prays were to celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary late in December, and they were expecting their grandson home from Viet Nam in time for Christmas.

These unpredictable days indeed produce some interesting phenomena - as witness a recent quote from a Rotary Club Bulletin: "Dora says she accidentally dropped a pill in the Xerox machine and now it won't reproduce."

In trying to teach our parakeet to talk, this scribe is reminded of similar efforts to make a parrot talk by repeating over and over: "Hello, hello." Finally, the parrot opened one sleepy eye and said: "What's the matter? Line busy?" So far, our efforts with our parakeet have resulted solely in a "wolf whistle"!

Interpreting a typed letter from EbenClough is nothing if not challenging! He blames it on his machine and says he'll "hafta git it fixed"! He has come up with a new letterhead and says he likes the stationery and "it's free, so I'll keep on punting"! He and Margie were scheduled to partake Thanksgiving with the Chan Fosters at the Salem Country Club and a big feed was in prospect. From Eben we learn that Kike Richardson and Marty Martin drove some 1200 miles to the Cornell game at Ithaca, then on to Hanover "with rain and headlights on all the way out and back." They were also headed for the Penn game in Philadelphia - which would seem to keep intact Kike's record of attendance at all Dartmouth games down through the years. What a guy!

The passing of Walter Wanger leaves us with a sense of recognition of his many contributions, both to his profession, to the College, and to the Class of 1915.

So, as we go on into another year, we look forward to a continuance of solidarity - both College-wise and within the Class.
