Here it is deadline time again, but with my usual procrastination I can start the column with the hottest news, namely Bus Mosbacher's selection as Chief of Protocol for the new Nixon administration. It will be nice to have Bus and Pat here in Washington and we know they will do an outstanding job on behalf of our government. One might say Bus is a helmsman for the Ship of State.

Sticking to Washington news, we have some in from Howie Leavitt who writes as follows: "After nearly seven years at worK with what used to be Kennedy s frontier am leaving the Foreign Aid Program to become the University Coordinator for International Programs at Penn State University. I have just returned from Brazil where tor 2½ years I was acting as the one and only overseas research and evaluation officer in the Foreign Aid program. Previous to Brazil I was in Washington as senior education research officer of AID, concerned mainly with developing, contracting and supervising large research contracts with universities tor applied research overseas. Unfortunately, have missed '43 reunions regularly but now that the peripatetic life of a foreign service officer is over, it may be possible to catch up. We persuaded bearded Ken to cut off his beard before showing up at Dartmouth as a freshman this last fall. We accepted the inevitable when he persuaded us that one-hall (?) of all students wear them."

Another job change of which you may not all be aware is by our Class President Charlie Donovan who has established his own consulting firm in Pottstown. Charlie still travels the length and breadth of the country, but for his own account.

Still an additional change is Joe Koci who resigned as Rector of Historic St. Peter's in Philadelphia to become vice president for development at Harcum Junior College in Bryn Mawr, Penn. Joe, Betty and their two children, Eric and Mark, are now ensconced at 223 Homestead Ave., Haddonfield, N. J. 08033.

Between the draft and final of these notes, I received word that as of February 1, 1969, Herb Marx will be Director of Industrial Relations of General Cable Corporation. Another promotion for a highly capable '43.

It is gratifying to learn that this column has its followers, witness the following report from Bud Hall on the subject of missing the Fall Reunion. "A couple of 'old faithfuls missing without excuse' were busily engaged - enjoyably engaged, I should say elsewhere. On that weekend Fred Stockwell was giving his daughter Sandy in marriage to Adrian Duckworth at a lovely wedding in the Stockwells' home in Winchester, Mass.

"The Mike Thurstons and the Don Millers also have the same excuse for missing the '43 Fall Reunion. We were with you in spirit while having a most pleasant and sentimental time with the Stockwells."

I'd like also to pass on an observation by Cal Osberg, our class treasurer, that there are about 180 lost sheep who apparently do not participate in class activities, pay class dues or contribute to the alumni fund. This unhappily ties in with the fact that 216 members had to be recorded in the 25th Year Book solely with Green Book and "most recent address" data. To those who read this column, if the shoe fits, take it off.
