We delayed the forwarding of this column to Hanover one day beyond the official deadline in the hopes that we would have much news about classmates seen at the Yale-Dartmouth game on Saturday, October 31. The decision was a wise one, as '47's were in strong attendance. We are still stimulated by watching the Big Green annihilate Yale. Those of you who were there know that the score of 10-0 was an understatement, as the control of the game was all Dartmouth and we believe that this was one of the finest Big Green teams we have ever seen—certainly deserving of top ranking in the East and what looked like a team that could hold its own with some of the national powers. .At any rate, it was a beautiful day, a full Yale Bowl, and a rewarding experience for all Dartmouth men.

As scheduled, a Class Executive Committee meeting was held at 10:00 A.M. preceding the game and was conducted by Class President Ed Senghas in such a manner that our business was concluded in time to arrive at the Yale Bowl for a leisurely luncheon and get-together. Also in attendance was Bob Harvey down from Boston with his wife Jane and one of his many daughters. Jeff Mills and his wife Val, never missing a meeting, flew up from Palm Beach the night before. Ted Meier, George Bingham and Carol, Townes and Roz Harris, Len and Betsy Sommers were also in attendance. Frank and Penny Wuerfel, Bob Gray, Tom Harrington, Frank and Ursula Weber, Dick and Joan Hollerith, Al and Joan Bildner, Dick Menin, Al Gasner from Washington and Julie Sayer and yours truly were also present.

A copy of the minutes will be coming in a future newsletter, but we felt a few highlights might be of interest. Treasurer Dick Hollerith reported that the class was solvent with all obligations met. It was voted to raise the class dues to $10.00 which is the norm for all classes out of the college more than ten years. This $10.00 includes $1.00 toward the Class Memorial Book Fund, which is used to purchase a book in Baker Library in honor deceased members of our class. The Alumni Fund report was given by retiring Head Class Agent, DickMenin and a vote of thanks was expressed to him on behalf of the class for a job well done. A new head class agent will be appointed shortly and Dick will be helping him in an orderly transfer. Class Giving Chairman, Townes Harris, pointed out that we will have to make an extra effort in the Alumni Fund Drive in our 24th and 25th years so that our 25-year gift will be one that we can all be proud of. The class opinion survey which was taken about a year ago created the greatest response in the history of the class with over 140 members answering the questionnaire and supplementing it with very emotional letters. A detailed report by Len Somers will be forwarded to class newsletter editor DougBurch and printed in a forthcoming newsletter. A new class logo to be used on class letterheads, etc.. was submitted by Dick Hollerith and approved by the committee. As background, the college has been chasing us for over a year to retire our '47 squaw with enlarged mammary glands. Sensitivity was not due to the size of the mammary glands but the undignified picturing of an Indian. However, the famous '47 with squaw banner is not being re-done and will be in full view at the various pre-game tent parties scheduled for the fall of 1971. A large round of applause was given to FrankWeber who agreed to serve as 25th reunion chairman. This will probably be a three-or four-day party for 500 to 600 classmates and their families and thus, the magnitude of the job is self-evident. Various class members will be called on in the not too distant future to serve on the committees and to help prepare for this huge blast in June of 1972. With most of the business taken care of, we piled into a chartered bus, ready for the game.

Because of the large crowd, it was difficult to move around talk to many of the classmates that we saw. In addition to those names above, "seen at the game" were Bob and Doris Tulcin and their son Roger presently in the class of 1973. Mel and Paula Nelson, Jim and Gloria Kelly, Al and Sally Epstein, Arnie Weber, Rube Samuels, Dave Huntoon and Saxe Fletcher. We're sure that there were more '47's but as our eyes are getting dimmer, this was all we could spot. A diary note for those living in the NYC metropolitan area—a 1947 Dartmouth luncheon will be held on Thursday, December 17. Time and place to be announced later. Purpose—a little preholiday good cheer for '47's suffering throughout the year in the New York disaster area. As this will probably be the last issue to reach you before Christmas and New Years, let us take the opportunity to wish all '47's a joyous holiday season and a healthy and happy New "Year.
